I dont see how putting Corrie on at 7pm makes sense!
RE
Reboot
Not really - that would "promote" Emmerdale above Coronation St, since the closer to 9pm, the higher the available audience in general.

At least it would be stripped across the week and have no soaps on at the weekend - which I beleieve that there should be no soap on at the weekend - weekend is for alternative scheduling (as shown on other networks and in other countries)
Can't strip it across any other timezone during peak times due to the fact of The Champions League - unless that was demoted to either ITV2 or ITV4 (somehow I can't see that happening!!)

There's just so many soaps these days! Didn't they use to have there Monday schedule with Corrie, World in Action, Strike it Lucky and the Krypton Factor (not in that order)... and now there's a good two hours of soaps on ITV during a Monday evening.

plausible until you get to the bit about Coronation Street moving to 8.30pm

I agree. Coronation Street has practically owned the 7.30pm slot for years. It's familiar to viewers - I just can't see ITV changing that anytime soon.

I don't believe this - although I do think ITV needs some major schedule changes. It probably won't happen though.

The thing is it could be true remember 10pm used to be the home for ITV News at Ten and no-one ever thought that it would be moved - same goes for the ITV news at 545/540. Saturday mornings used to be the home of children's magazine shows. Saturday afternoons used to be the home for proper real decent BRITISH wrestling. The Sunday 640 slot was for religious magazines, whilst the Sunday 10pm slot was decent British adult comedies. Monday's 9pm was home to US Drama's (eeeee - I usd to watch Quincy when I was child then it was Mganum and the The Equalizer!). Late Saturday Evenings used to be the home of the decent film of the week, whilst Thursday' evenings had a "Murder, Mystery, Suspense" movie during the peak time.

Things change, and goes to show a time-slot is NOT guaranteed even with history behind the programme.

BTW when is either ITV3 or ITV4 ever going to repeat from beginning to end The Equalizer. They are the perfect home for the show.

Its ridiculous the amount of episodes of the soaps on ITV1 these days. In the 1980s/1990s on a Monday for example there was one episode of Corrie and around it were a variety of other shows. Now it seems its the others shows which fit in among the soaps!

I also think it's disgusting the way ITV exploits both Coronation Street and Emmerdale to prop up it's other shows. The soaps should be drastically cut, to 3 episodes each. ITV needs some variety in the schedule.

You talk as if extra ones are added every week. It's been fixed at 5 Corries and 6 Emmerdale's for quite a while, I would have thought you would have got used to it by now. I also don't think there's been any extra episodes on top of that this year despite the threats "I wouldn't be surprised if.."

A channel controller who reduced the number of soaps, would be a channel controller out of a job by the end of the year, as you are not going to get any other programme to match the ratings despite what you might think.
