As other people have said a name change would probably only be to the plc company and nott its various ventures itv 1 etc. Viewers wuld no doubt see no changes on screen. And as for regionality comming back, sadly, no way on this earth would that happen. ITV rulled the roost for 40 odd years or so based on regional television stations. Now look at it, the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it comees to mind!"
Many would consider it IS "broke" and urgently needs fixing, although regionality isn't likely unless a profit could be seen from it.
On my part, apart from regional news and features the only thing I can bear to watch on ITV is football, and even then I usually have the sound off and Radio 5 Live on.
Unfortunately I can't afford the lobotomy to enjoy the rest of the dire sub lowest common denominator garbage that makes even Bravo look like BBC Four.
There is every likelyhood that a private equity company will bid for it proberbly led by Greg Dyke or some such figure head. If or when that happens its likely to be broken up according to the city pundits. The broadcast company separated from the production company (helps solve the pension black hole) separated from the actual owned assetts, studios etc split off the advertising airtime agency. I think they were selling off Granada education anyway.
I like the corperate name of ITV and many people would be pretty confused if they did change thier name to all sorts of rubbish. It's a company and need a proper name.
Their main channel is sinking faster than the Titanic, their boss has upped sticks and left, their staff are demoralised and the prestige of the company is lower than ever before. And there's the chairman, head in the sand as usual, pondering a corporate renaming. What an idiot.
I've been saying it for years, and it's never been more true than now. The sooner the company is bought by a foreign media corporation and the entire board wiped out the better. The current management is creatively bankrupt, have been for years, and no amount of rehashes are going to make the slightest bit of difference while the current management is still in charge.

No-one would get confused - the name of the company is irrelevant to viewers not that they'd actually hear it on air
