It's funny that people are suggesting that ITV plc might take on the name Granada plc. This is almost identical to what happenned when Granada 'merged' with Compass and formed the abridged "Granada Compass" company. They then "demerged" and lo and behold Granada's hospitality empire had become part of compass, Granada remaining as a media giant.
Granada + Carlton = "ITV" a name abridged or common between the two, that name then changes back to Granada and ooooh, better order some new headed paper!
The ex-Granada team seem quite good at these "mergers"!

You can say that again. At the moment, they constantly "pump-out" reality TV programmes, which are basically the same format - celebrities (if you can call them celebs) making prats out of themselves.
ITV has been terrible for a long time - I would say it started when it changed to ITV1. They showed programmes which were way too celebrity focused (even the idents had celebrities!!!).
I can't remember the last time I watched a programme on ITV1, other than Coronation Street. I'm very disappointed in them!

I had the same idea as well but I would expect the following:
More quality programming
A possible comeback of many classic gameshows
A much stronger regional identity and the comeback of Carlton/LWT and HTV.
One Charles Allen leaves who knows what will happen next.

I had the same idea as well but I would expect the following:
More quality programming

Call it "3" like many have already said.
But really they dont need to change the name.
But need to realise that they need to:
- Bring back the dramas - Strong point!
- Bring some comedies/classics
- Cut the amount of Soaps shown per week.
- Bring some classic gameshows back (AXE The Price is Right)
- Have less copying from rivals
- And have less Reality junk!

Why is it some of you still don’t GET IT
There want to Change the operation NAME “ITC PLC “that the channel name ITV1 is staying!
There probably call it some thing stupid like "Consignia"
