I think they have just handed the website over to the ITV. I think that whats it says at the bottom of this page.

How much money has the sale made the founders and the team at Friends Reunited?
For Steve and Julie Friends Reunited has genuinely never been about the money. Turning a simple idea into Britain 's internet success story has been hugely rewarding for everyone involved, but we still have work to do as only half the country is signed-up and there are plenty of great websites out there yet to be created!

you do know that ITV is a plc company, and not just a few channels?
They've bought it (it hasn't been 'handed over') because I presume it's profitable.

ITV buys Friends Reunited Wesite for 120 million.
Can we expect to see a few reunion reality shows out of this now?
A lot of people put a lot of personal data about themselves on that Site.
I wonder how they feel about this news.

I would rather that sum of money be spiralled back in programming rather than relying to lazy scheduling.

You'd have thought ITV plc would rather have bought more of ITV they don't own, rather than this. I'd have thought you could buy most of the rest of ITV for that price.

That would be putting all their eggs in one basket. Getting a portfolio of media interests is the way to go for a PLC.
Its doubtful how much of a benefit owning SMG & UTV would be to ITV PLC from a business point of view.
