Interesting that ITV don't actually own the building, UBM must have sold HTV and kept the building.
I wonder how much ITV can wangle out of the new owners for the remaining 7 years of its lease?
More about the buildng here: http://www.hhg.org.uk/tech.html

I'm not in the slightest bit surprised. In fact I predicted this just a month ago on TV Forum:
Quorida on 15th January 2006 posted:
Maybe this could be the right time for ITV Wales to relocate from their aging and scruffy premises on the outskirts of Cardiff. Most of the building is already being used by other media companies such as Sounds In Motion, so maybe ITV Wales would be better off relocating it's news and programme production (what's left of it) to new premises in Cardiff Bay or the city centre.

The truth is that it’s the last thing that’s of any value there.
ITV have downsized the service so much over the last two years that ITV Wales could relocate to a single Portakabin behind the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay and they’d still have room to fill it with the Welsh Rugby Squad.
There’s been talk and plans to move out of the building for the last few years but they’ve always been complications.
All that’s left there is empty offices and the ghosts of an era when regional ITV really did mean something.

Of course this comes as no shock to those at ITV Wales, why else have there been recent programmes called;
“On The Edge”,
“Never To Be Forgotten”,
”Shut Up Shop”,
“The Last Dawn”
and my own favourite.
“How OFCOM allowed us to strip away and delegate 35 years of Welsh television history to a bunch of thieving accountants based in London.”
(That last one is allegedly still in production)

Yes the only regions that will keep their studios are those that produce enough networked programmes e.g. Granada, Yorkshire

Many ITV stations are moving to smaller premises. All regional news seems to be dead and buried as well.
Any bets for another nail in the regional coffins?

Doesn't look good for Border, then - the last programmes that they produced for the network (Mr & Mrs, Basil's Joke Machine and Krankies TV) were some time ago...

I heard Border's studio complex is quite small, if so would that still mean they have to move?
