I do know the truth and i posted:
Ahh, but i have heard that as soon as the merger happens, Central transmission will come from (LNN) London.

Leeds will deal with the north, and the south and midlands - London!!

Yes - this was what I had heard as well. LNN would cover the South, Leeds the North, and each would act as a backup to the other. Meridian, HTV and Central would all cease to have presentation playout roles, though may still be required to drop in their local news (especially the sub-regions in the case of Westcountry, Central and Meridian) - though sub-regional adverts would be played out by LNN / Leeds?

I must admit when I first saw it, I thought Brum had gone Pete Tong again !

Seems to be working well so far though from what I've noticed. I suppose all the gremlins will happen when it either moves to London, or they have another power cut in Gas Street!

Has 'Joe Public' in the Central region noticed anything different yet?

I had to point it out to my sister on the first day, 'cos she hadn't noticed, plus I haven't seen any commnts on the likes of 'Chatterbox' on Ceefax about it yet !

We had them on Yorkshire as well during a few breaks in SM:TV Live but they seem to have gone in the last three breaks

It's because SMTV is a part of CITV which is routed through Birmingham because of this...and because Central now has the capabilities to play the breakflash...everyone gets it.

Additionally, at present, there are networked commercials going out at strange times, with the revenue going to GMTV, as part of the quid pro quo for the rugby eating into GMTV's times.

SMTV isn't routed through Birmingham. Thus why SM:tv have that strange bold version of the dog, play out the roller blind ident and use itv1 breakbumpers and flashes.

This Is Granada
When I saw the breakflash today during SM:TV, I was a Little shocked. I was nace to se it in Granada Land, even if it was only for a few ad breaks.

So was it a network ad break then? If so would UTV/STV and Grampian take it or would they still have their own local ads?

These occasions are usually noticable in that they don't have any breakbumpers and have a different type of freeze at the end, like during SM:TV two weeks ago I think it was

The break opticals are really annoying. Can someone explain to me why they're there in the first place?

And just watching through a set of UK commercials... why is the transition from one ad to the next is jarring? There's a lot of black space, the last frame of video lingers on the screen...?
