Oh how boring. What is happening to this channel? POOR.

Oh give over, he's picked out about 5 programmes, this does not fairly represent the autumn schedule for the channel. What about the new dramas, the new look to daytime (including Crossroads replacement), investment in childrens and the raft of factual programming that Nigel Pickard is looking to bring into primetime ?

Well to be honest, anything will be better than the stuff they've put in the 5pm showing to date after Crossroads. Steve Irwin and The Planet's Funniest Animals. Need I say more? Shocked What's next in the queue anyway?

I personally think that the Planet's Funniest Animals is very good. I watched it tonght on the off-chance and I have to say that I laughed like a hyena,

You've Been Framed is to retain prime-time showings with new host Johnathon Wilkes after Lisa Riley left the show. Tweaked set and titles are on their way.

No no no. This show needs to die a very quick (but preferably very painful) death. There's only so many times cats can fall into lakes.

Pop Idol 2 will headline the Autumn schedule - but will the show survive? ITV are furious that the BBC has scheduled the return of Fame Academy in exactly the same time-slot (6:30pm Saturday). Ant and Dec return as hosts and Simon Cowell joins the judges. Nicky Chapman will not be back, and the return of Pete Waterman and Dr. Fox is currently unconfirmed.

Fair enough I suppose, I quite enjoyed Pop Idol. Although Popstars The Rivals grated on me somewhat.

Celebrities Under Pressure is the latest offering from ITV1 - can celebritites face a WHOLE WEEK with ordinary WORKING CLASS people?! Rolling Eyes Join Melanie Sykes in the studio to see whether the 'top celebrities' will survive.

OOH, yey. What's next? Would Dead Ringers be right in suggesting 'How clean is your celebrity builder from hell'. At this rate, probably.

Saturday Night Takeaway is back again (probably the best programme out of an iffy bunch this year) with Ant and Dec. More ads up for grabs.

Fabulous, I absolutely love this programme!

Stars in their Eyes is back yet again, and there's still a series in the archives that hasn't been shown yet!

Nice to see, good good.

Coronation Street will feature an extra episode on Mondays as the tension mounts for Jon Lindsay's return...

Hmm, not too sure. On the one hand they could be looking for easy ideas to fill the script, but on the other it could prove to be quite interesting.

Not bad, I suppose.

The problem with some of those Dead Ringers fake announcements is that half the time they mix up ITV1 and Channel 4 programmes!

I think the double bill of Corrie worked well and im not suprised it will be back in the autumn. I wonder if we will also get an extra episode of Emmerdale too - I hope not, although its been good lately I think it needs to stay at a maximum of 5 eps a week.

Saturday Night Takeaway and Pop Idol are really good shows but You've Been Framed - are they serious, we've already had way too much of that show. The celebrity show with Mel also seems boring

I do hope you were joking when you said that...

I agree about the Planets Funniest Animals - it is so crap

They should screen Shortland Street at 5pm but they should screen episodes from 1997/1998/1999 not the 2001 episodes - they are good but not a patch on what SS was in its heyday of 1997/1998 etc mainly because apart from Nick/Rachel/Waverly/Donna we have an entire new cast!

Does anyone know what other series there will be in the autumn and what the daytime will look like - I know Des and Mel are back no doubt in the 1pm slot again

Emmerdale has been very good this last week - it shows they can do the serious stuff as well as Corrie and EastEnders, yet it's general strength is surviving for most of the year on humour and strong characters.

Whilst Shortland Street doesn't quite reach the horrible lows of 'The Planet's Funniest Animals", it's hardly a bastion of quality television - is it? However, by current itv standards, it's most probably one of the higher brow programmes!!

So basically, network centre controllers - the autumn schedule needs to be scrapped, re-examined and then something better should be comissioned.
Unfortunately, it is probably far too late for this, so maybe plan B will suffice: 24/7 docusoap covering the various mishaps, errors of judgement and general gaffes made by the network centre bods!
