ITV Announcers.
We've had them for over forty years, but what do we think of their job today. Do we like their styles. What they say. How they sound.
Do you have a particular favourite in your region.?
Should there be just ITV announcers and NOT regional. What say you.
Would love to know your thoughts.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Please don't use CAPITALS for thread headings next time. I know you're new, but it's just a caution from one forum member to another. Wink

BTW, I have never actually seen any ITV people in action... it's always been BBC or Sky.

Well the grand daddy of all announcers has to be:-

Dilwyn Young Jones

everything he does is funny - whether hes trying to be funny or not! we are lucky enough still to see him in vision in wales doing the welly-filling weather forcasts which are pure brilliance!

The current evening guy on Anglia is rubbish.
Sounds like Nigel Mansell, only more monotonic!!!!!

My favorite was alway Graham Bell, the guy who kept the Anglia clock going, and used to present About Anglia before continuity.
Sadly died before the hearts era.

Do Anglia still use Southampton for continuity? Or do they now suffer the rubbish Leeds based YTV continuity announcers ie `now on ITV1` mould?

nah, anglia still comes from southamption and they use the world Anglia as opposed to ITV most of the time, even during primetime.

Blimey. An ITV region mentioning it's own name! Very rare !
Here in ' Granadaland ' ( aah ), it is 95% ' here on ITV1 ... '
or just ' here .. ' Even before many local news bulletins
it's ' now, news from around our region '. In other words, the
same announcer for all GMG stations.
With regards to GMG announcers, nothing special ( sorry ) except
for the chap who does workd through the night ( recorded ) and
regional trailers ie ( Soccer Night on Granadaaaaaaaaa ). At least
he stands out. God only knows what they all look like. Anyone
know?
Confused

I think there are about 5 in total. At least two of them have been with YTV for at least 20 years the female one also is the narrator on JMC planes safety videos that you watch before you take off, one of the other female announcers was also YTV prior to GMG takeover and she has been there about 5/6 years. This is why I cannot understand people saying that they are GMG announcers they are basically YTV announcers doing a generic job on Granada Border TT to save the company money.
What do they look like......god knows
