Sky customers will not be able to watch ITV's soon-to-launch ITV4 until November 7, despite the fact that NTL and Freeview viewers will be able to tune in the week before.
A spokeswoman for ITV4 said that the company is currently involved in negotiations with Sky. However, the satellite company has told ITV that due to administrative issues, it is unlikely to be able to air ITV4 until November 7.
To many, the news will come as little surprise given that Sky is set to launch its own free-to-view channel Sky Three the day before ITV4 goes live.
The delay will fuel speculation that Sky is deliberately stalling on the basis that ITV4 will undermine viewing figures for its own launch.
However, the ITV4 spokeswoman said that there is a possibility of the two pulling off a last-minute deal.
The article in Brand Republic is incorrect as it states that
"Sky Three will be the new name for Sky Travel..."
In fact, although Sky Three will
replace
Sky Travel on Freeview channel 11, Sky Travel will continue as a seperate channel on DSat (139) and ntl (931).
Also interesting to note in next weeks Radio Times that ITV4 is listed as EPG 120, but with the caveat that it is from 7 November only (not much sign of a last minute deal there )
Does this mean that Sky customers will not be able to view ITV4 (using the "add channel" facility)? Are Sky intending to scramble the test signal (for what is essentially an FTA channel) simply to ensure Sky Two/Three has an unclutered launch next week?
Do apologise, getting mixed up, when i saw 10.072 i thought this was the frequency and the number's ending with a v was for the part under the frequency Thanks and sorry once again.
