Yes andrew - i would've posted it just before you but took a bit longer composing this than I had expected (lol)

I have now moved ITV4 next to ITV1 on my channel line-up. I used to have ITV2 next to ITV1 but now it has gone more female-orientated and ITV4 has come along I am quite enjoying the new channel, new look, and some decent imported programmes back on ITV!

Typical ABC1 males will now flick between ITV1 and ITV4, whereas I will only watch ITV2 for the odd Xfactor or saturday night entertainment programme that I missed. It seems that ITV2 will be an ITV1 catch-up station, with ITV3 raiding the ITV archive and ITV4 taking the sport away from ITV2 and adding some 60's classics alongside some current great imports!

I cannot wait to see Invasion Iowa tonight - that couldn't have really happened - could it?

PS I notice ITV4 is on m&m again tonight! I suppose this will happen for all the live sport that ITV4 will be airing until ITV4 is allowed on the SKY epg?

Well, so much for the "for one night only" cr@p we were told earlier in the week.

Clearly ITV plc see ITV4 and M&M as interchangeable. It doesn't bode well for M&M's future really does it (even if it was going into profit next year Confused )....unless of course the now virtually "lame-duck" not-quite-24-hour-rolling news channel ITV NC shares with M&M and just broadcasts from 4am-11am Very Happy Very Happy

To defend the ITV4 and M&M simulcast .....

Sky doesn't have ITV4 until next week and
Border region Freeview viewers don't have ITVNC or ITV4 yet.

Middlesbrough are bound to have a few fans in the Border region so it's excusable in the interim.

A slim defence there DVB Cornwall . ITV have simply highlighted their botched launch once again. They announced that "ITV4 on M&M" was for one night only - did they forget there are seven days before their official launch on Sky EPG 120? Confused

Additionally:
Arrow ITV4 is available on Sky for anyone with half a brain cell using the "Other Channel" function.
Arrow ITV obviously aren't bothered about the sheep in Cumbria missing out on UEFA Cup matches/News/M&M, otherwise they would have made sure M&M and/or ITVNC were available there in the first place on Freeview. Embarassed (never mind during this fudged week of simulcasts).

All of what you say is out of ITV's hands, as you well know.
Would you have prefered Sky viewers to miss out on the football, just because they told MediaGuardian that it was for one night only.

A quickie to show the ITV4 logo on digital text

More than what I get on Digital Teletext, as I get sod all of it as my box doesn't like the Teletext service, running it at a painfully slow speed. BBC text is no issues at all.

The current situation is entirely ITV's making. If you plan to launch a channel (which is surely an expensive process) it's best to check that you actually have the ability to broadcast it and that your intended audience can receive it.

ITV are so short-sighted they sound like the sort of people who would pay for a cheap car, and then suddenly discover they bought one without an engine!

ITV knew that they were scheduling football on ITV4 on Thursday as well as Tuesday - so why make the botched launch worse my only saying it was to be simulcast on M&M on Tuesday.

Or they'll just simulcast ITV4 on Men & Motors more and more until suddenly the schedule is just an ITV 4 simulcast and then they'll axe M&M. Laughing

This could be argued all day - but I'd lay the blame at Sky's door. ITV have the space, they have the EPG slot and the start date has been known for months!

Yes, some of the blame for the DSat fiasco can be laid at Sky's door - but the DTT botch is all ITV's. They obviously "forgot" that they only have 5 slots, and have therefore effectively signed ITV NC's death warrant by reducing it's hours for the sake of ITV4.
