Last night, after the Jack Osbourne show, itv2 aired a promo for 'Kojak' to be shown on itv4. I didn't take much notice of it though cos it wasn't until the end of it I noticed the itv4 logo. From what I could remember it looked like a much more professionally put together than the current itv promos, or it could have just my imagination.

The promos are on the ITV4 website. (I think)

I've looked at the ones on the ITV4 website, and while they seem to be of the same standard as cinema trailers, there is no indication of how the logo will animate - which is a shame.

At the risk of sounding like a poor imitation of Nick Harvey, if we MUST have pointless sticky threads, could the title at least be capitalised correctly, rather than MDTA-circa-2003-SKYnews-style mimicry of the logo?

Why is this thread sticky anyway, I thought that only happened when the channel was launching, not 3 weeks before

Do we know yet if it is going to replace Men & Motors on Freeview or replace the ITV News Channel?

From 26th August in Media Guardian:
Quote:
Many industry pundits had assumed that ITV would axe Men and Motors when ITV4 arrived because both are aimed at male viewers.

But the ITV director of digital channels, Jonathan Lewis, said the "cool young male lifestyle" channel would continue.

"We can see an economic path that takes it to break-even and profit," Mr Lewis said.

Quote:
But Men and Motors could be forced off Freeview when ITV4 launches - the network has not yet announced its strategy. In April it bought Freeview channel operator SDN for £134m, which could give it extra channel capacity.

Also from Media Guardian, 7th September:
Quote:
As for lads' channel Men and Motors, it will be broadcast side by side with ITV4, but the network's boss said that ITV would examine a potential format clash.

"Men and Motors is part of that transitional period. Yes, it will be available when ITV4 is up and running but we'll be looking at branding and content in the changes going into 2006. We're looking at what's the best way to optimise the strategy."

After what ITV did on the ITV 3 launch day nothing would really suprise me.

In terms of ratings & audience I could see them choosing to take ITV News off. However I could also see ITV wanting to bring everything under the 'ITV' branding and with ITV4 set to clash with M&M in terms of programming/audience they may decide to axe Men and Motors. One interesting suggestion I read here a while back was the option of in the short term making ITV News share with ITV 4, with the news channel running from 6am-6pm on FreeView. I personally think that shortterm atleast this might be the most likely option, however ITV are very unpredictable.

Why don't they just ace NC? Let's face it the viewers don't want it, its straining there staff to the limit, no proper schedules, a complete mess... why hold on to it?
