Being an avid H&A fan I was disgusted with their treatment of it, and think CARLTON should be kicked out of ITV

I know. I was shoked when I was told they made Channel 5 one whole year to see it. And the way they treat international shows is disgusting. And they make a big hissy fit just because Channel 5 offered more money AND better treatment. Although they did edit out a minute a couple of weeks ago for time reasons because of the football. They have shown full end credits which ITV(namly Crapton) cut between 1993 and 2000 and regular censorship. There have NO act of cencership since Channnel 5 took of on July 16th.
And to top it off I live in Central region and whish I still had cake. Let me eat cake.

Living in Canada, I can tell ya this: Cherish every little bit of regional branding you can get, before it goes extinct.

Razz: And its a damn good idea. I dont know what everyone else thinks, but the scheme you've come up with there really works. At least for some of the regions anyway.

Do you fancy having a go at the videos to go with them!!

Regional identities have been a vital part of ITV for many many years.

There used to be a great affinity between the old continuity announcers and the viewing public, made you feel very much at home in your own local ITV area.

There should be more local programmes at various time during the day rather than the shameful cutting by ITV parent companies Carlton and Granada.

To make one universal schedule throughout the entire ITV network would be a total disgrace, with only regional news and league football as variations just keeping the 15 regions and their names intact. Carlton and Granada have ripped the heart out of ITV and broken the hearts of their many viewers.

Before a programme on ITV used to start, and you saw the ident and jingle that was produced in your own ITV region, it made you feel very proud. You don't even get that now.

On YTV though, as I expect you remember, its promo first then ident, without any 'good morning' as if they've been on since 6am

Oddly enough, STV say good morning in the link ito GMTV and then again at 9.25, almost like two startups!

IMHO there is really no need for ITV to plaster their brand over local stations. People in Yorkshire watch Yorkshire, people in London watch Carlton etc. and that is all anybody wants to know. After all, you see few products advertised nowadays that ever quote the brand and the company. E.g 'Nescafe Gold Blend from Nestle, Kleenex double velvet from Kimberly-Clark' Local station names are what people recognise. Almost everybody up here will say 'What's on STV tonight?' and this is the same in all areas. People quote the brands they are familiar with, and no matter how many millions are sent on ITV1 branding campaigns, nothing will change this.

Yeah, in the Yorkshire region, we just see two version of the hearts idents, which is pathetic, in the early nineties(1990,91,92), they were brilliant, they used to play an extended version of the ITV generic music, while Richard Madely and Judy Finnegan used to tell what  was on their show, and then an ITV gameshow used to come on eg Keynotes, Runway etc, brilliant stuff, ah those were the days!Smile
