Brilliant!

They didn't utilise the 2013 colour picking effect to its full potential - certainly not in the majority of the dull as dishwater idents. There was definitely scope for a second go-around of this concept, with animated or hybrid live action/animated idents.

ITV have always been known for their inconsistency in branding.

Have they? When? And compared to who?

Just don't watch ITV live through the hub. Many things on there still use 2013 branding such as when the programme isn't available due to rights and a very garish black and white animated thing with 'Programmes continue shortly' in the 2013 style which I think is used to cover up some ads or trails.

I did like the falling effect of the originals and this update has been a step backwards. I feel they may have gained complaints about feeling dizzy or uneasy whenever they see the trail end boards fall into place. Nonsense in my view of course, but a few of my family members commented they didn't like how it dropped and fell saying it made them feel a bit uneasy. Much like when something falls and panic sets in as you attempt to catch it.

I thought it was clever myself. And the Super Saturdays style is just bland and boring now.

I think that kinda shows the point though, the trails are "here's things you can watch" very much like a colour swatch, it's their offering in your home, you pick what you want. From that concept it works very well.

I think the 2013 colour picking concept did that much more effectively though. The ITV logo reflecting the 'temperature' of the programme being promoted was such an innovation, it's a real shame they didn't develop that rather than ditching it in favour of wooden stencils, which would be much more appropriate for one of the 'create and craft' channels.

It was ditched because it was pain in the junctions, from what I've heard. Trying to match the dot transitions. Which a lot of the time didn't happen

And they've corrected it to the new bumpers now, the old ones were a mistake

Nothing worse than a pain in the junctions.

I’m surprised that’s the reason they ditched it. Surely that would have been something tried and tested during the planning stages before it even went to air and a guide would have been made to ensure anyone making trails would have been able to get them to match up with each another?

Just did this quickly this morning... This is how I think they should have gone about refreshing the end boards for promos etc. Still keeping the layers without compromising the design of the logo.

Wasn't it more that it was the sheer number of combinations that needed to be created for each promo? To marry up all the tomorrows, todays, tonights etc versions with all the other channels' promos, break bumpers and idents. Just a huge amount of work.

It was also said there are quite a small number of situations where two promos run back to back, most run on their own at the start/end of an ad break, so the feature wasn't always seen

Send that to DBLG or ITV Creative. If they'd want this idea.

I know this is a very 'nit picky' thing but you missed out the 'sponsored by' text.
