Maybe it’s just me not knowing or remembering what the prior look was but I like it. Things like this are not really common on US broadcasting. Usually during primetime the broadcast networks typically have run credits in a squeeze while they either playout a post credit scene, a preview of coming up or sometimes a promo of another show. That ends and of course they have time to put the producers vanity card on air and then they transition right into the new show.
The Hub feels just as prominent as the channel, if not slightly more. I guess understandable that it shouldn’t be an afterthought these days. I think it actually works better than the BBC which flips between the channel/iPlayer logos.
Nothing too offensive with these changes, it’s all an evolution of what was before. Only thing I’m not keen on is the endboard animation - it’s effectively just a basic wipe up from the bottom now instead of the flip effect before.

Yep, US are a big fan of accelerated flow. I think CBS puts a 10 second promo before the next show.
It's the opposite here, credits are seen as free airtime, so we use it to tease or cross promote to sister channels. I worked somewhere where they deliberately re-edited a programme to add credits (instead of the lower third flash card credits) to allow for a squeeze. And we tend to have a more viewer focused, presentation style (conversational links, rather than barking 'NEXT NCIS')
Am I right in thinking the previous bumpers may actually have been physical models rather than animations - I'm sure I've seen footage of that.
I thought they were always CGI. I’m sure I remember seeing Maxon Cinema 4D using the ITV presentation in a social media post not long after it launched.
Hi mate. There’s a trail for a show called Ulster giants. when that show ends maybe
The Ulster Giants trailer played inbetween Corrie was still in the old style.
It will be interesting if next weeks trailer for Ulster Giants will be in the new or old style. I suspect if its still in the old style then ITV have not bothered to make UTV versions of the new promo endboards.
If we get a new endboard on the next Ulster Giants trailer, this may be an indication that UTV branding/idents may be returning at some point in the future hance going to the effort of making UTV promo boards.
We should know my mid to late this week, when they will start showing next Mondays Ulster Giants promo from then.
They seem to have now destroyed the concept of the 'cut out' effect. The ITV Hub logo just slides in from the side on the ECPs, but from where? The main logo is now a single colour.
The original 3-layers was an interesting idea, and worked well. This isn't really an evolution, it's a retrograde step, apparently for the sake of including the Hub logo rather than just text promoting it.
ITV have ruined their branding over the past couple of years. What was once a consistent and solid identity has now been watered down into what we have now. These new ECPs etc look ok but the ITV logo has really been destroyed to make them work. The whole idea of the new ITV logo with the coloured segments was fresh and they flowed with the shape of the word mark but now it looks dull and unimaginative. Shame really because it was leaps and bounds ahead of the BBC but it’s becoming just as bad!

Well it's certainly not as interesting losing the the "three layered" effect, but it's competently made by someone who clearly knows what looks good on screen, so let's not talk nuts here.
