Life without Channel 4. I think I'd be severely depressed.

Don't label Big Brother with the same brush that you'd label all the rip-off formats that have arisen as a result of it's success.!

No you seem to mis-understand me. I hate reality TV.......I HATE!!!! reality TV. I HATE!!!!!!! reality TV. Period I find it insulting to my intelligence that anyone can possibly could be entertained by it.

Big Brother started it and I hate that the most FOR starting it in the 1st place that’s my point. Big Brother is at the core of everything I hate about television ever after. I label it as the route of all evil that destroyed television and makes me work life a living hell.

As aposed to having to hear all about what's going on in the s*ding big brother house from two female work coleagues all day long, and I'm A Celebrity or what-ever other mindless reality crap is on.

9-5 every monday-friday I have to hear them talking about it.... and your call ME! the sad one???

My point is had Channel 4 never existed, Big Brother would have had existed and Reality TV would never had existed and I'd be happy.

That was your point? I'm afraid it is flawed.

Channel 4 didn't come up with Big Brother, they bought it from Endemol in the Netherlands. It was a huge hit over there and would have been picked up by a channel here with or without Channel 4.

You could always ask these young ladies not to chat near you if it makes you feel so tortured.

Or just get a sense of perspective.

Meaning, I should follow it like 'normal cool' people?

AFAIK, that is the same story of Deal Or No Deal. Am I right?

I would have thought so. I watched Deal or no Deal in France about 6 months before it hit the UK when on holiday there.

ITV2 in the 70's? Try this Granted it's not the best quality of clips but it's taken from Southern's Christmas Tape. I guess they knew something about the future before the rest of us did.

Not at all, but phrases like "route of evil" and "living hell" suggest that you are taking it quite seriously.

I mean, I don't like brussell sprouts, but I don't freak out when I see them in the Co-op.

It is 'ITV Reality' (a.k.a. 'ITV1') that has done this! Love Island, XFactor, quiz this, quiz that. It is a pity, because on the few occasions they do do something different (a drama maybe [not a soap opera!]?!), it is very good (IMO!). Channel Four just run 'B.B.', in their very varied programme scheduele.

Blaming 'Channel Four' for the madness of reality television, is, inmo, like blaming my hypothetical Pete; who was spreading his sandwiches iwth a knife, for hypothetical Michael stabbing someone with the same knife, after he had legitimately washed it up, and put it away. Even if Pete hadn't used the knife, Michael would have used a knife to stab the person with, even if it was a *different* knife, from the same draw.

Perhaps we'd have bombardment from a very similar genre. Maybe ITV's interpetation of big brother, would have been worse than channel four's (if they'd bought it. [you can just imagine 'celebrity love big brother', or something Rolling Eyes Laughing !]!).
