I reckon (as said in my past thread) since LWT ceased, ITV cannot create anymore good programmes, because LWT made them all, and all ITV repeat is outtake programmes, which for me is no problem.

Bóllocks, it has nothing to do with the demise of LWT, it just happens that LWT is now known as Granada London and that people like Cilla Black and (your hero) Brian Conely chose to leave the station.

Where as for Celebrity obsessed, one possibilty is changing tastes amongst young people who like reading things such as Heat magazine and being influenced by things such as Celebrity Big Brother. ITV is losing viewers amongst the 16-34 year olds at a sharp rate, they probably do some research and look at other channels ratings and see that having Celebrities within the programmes attracts the viewers, meaning more money for ITV, overall meaning bigger profits, so Mr Allen and his Shareholders are pleased. Please note ITV is a business, something that is easily forgotten amongst people within these Forums.

Granted I didn't like Celebrity Love Island, but I know a fair few people who did and the ratings reflect this as it got a good strong 4 million for the 10pm slot on the channel, even at times beating Big Brother, something that Fantasy Football struggled with last year.

I personally think it is worth taking a look into the schedule to see that not that many programmes have the words 'celebrity' in them, as Nigel Pickard said the other week, he commissions about 4000 shows a year. It is the programmes that the channel wants the viewer to watch that have celebrities in them.

I don't think being Controller of Programmes at ITV is the easiest job ever, I would think that based on Nigel Pickard's experience within Broadcasting, you would think he would commission some high brow programmes, which he probably would, but they don't attract the viewers, meaning that ITV could be scared off from doing this sort of thing again.

As long as Celebrities remain popular (thanks to magazines such as Heat) then there will probably be Celebrity programmes on ITV and any other channel if the demand is there.

Personally if you don't like ITV, switch to ITV3 or go outside, no-one is pointing a gun at your head.

And all the outtake programmes (i.e. It'll be Alright on the Night) are all made by LWT... oh sorry Granada London.

Just some of their newer ones (i.e. All New TV's Naughtiest Blunders 5824) really do not fit up to their expectations as it's just full of Phil & Fern laughing on This Morning, Neil Morrisey & Martin Clunes making hand gestures at each other & Rik Mayall just pretending to cock-up which to me definately is not that funny.

Give me Alright on the Night anyday as you'll get a variety of quality outtakes & can laugh AT Denis Norden with his jokes he finds funny but no-one else in this earth does! Laughing

Best possible advice. If you don't like ITV, there is always the BBC, Channel 4, Five and Sky. A whole mountain of other channels you might like. Or there's real life if you like! I don't watch ITV1 anymore, i think it's rubbish. But I don't complain about it, because it clearly isn't aimed at me. It is aimed at the celebrity lovers. I'm not one of them, but i'm fine with that. I'll stick to watching Doctor Who on BBC1 and comedy on Paramount. People like are us are not the majority, and so ITV will never be aimed at us. A shame yes, but there's no point in going on about it

ITV is for Chavs.

The only people who saw what was wrong in ITV is Seven in Oz.

Revoking them the rights to Home & Away gave them the kick in the balls they asked for.

Seven unknowlingly created a monster in Crossroads which would never be good enough for ITV, because they can't show anything under 10m viewers. Shallow t w @ t s.

To Seven!

I thought Channel Five outbid ITV for Home and Away? I don't think Seven would relinquish a larger audience for a smaller one on Five just to revoke the rights ....so it probably all boiled down to money...usually does.

Im sorry! but ITV is total trash! im 23 and Think ITV has gone to the dogs!
i enjoy going out clubbing , going out with mates, and want to watch decent TV
ITV has nothing Decent on it!
the reson why i Used to watch ITV was beacuse it was different from every other channel, it was Regional, if you switched over to BBC or Channel 4 you had the same style of national tv when as ITv was clever at spliting down to the area where you lived!

as you say ITV is a business, so understand the ITV plc, but it would be easy as one compay to still create regional outputs rather than just news,a nd a couple of hours here and there!

Im also getting sick and tired of the Granada name thrown on the screen! i remeber when CARLTON CANCER Killed Westcountry and Central they said it was to stop the viewers getting confused with the name of the company! Bollox to that
what are we ment to be calling ITV now? as we get ITV1 ident but all programs are Granada? now whats confusing
i Hope to god that GREEDY GRANADA arent the new name for ITV.

ITV need to get the fat greasy business men who sit there and all they think about is how much money they are gonna make money and kicked em out
replace them with people who give a dame about quality television ands who give a dam about its viewers and Turn ITV around, as i dont watch ITV as i used to, the the facet its killed off its heart, (the regions) ITv is just a dead meaningless station like all the others
BRing back the days of TSW,HTV, THAMES, and all the other good staions!
