ITV has 'suspended' them for a week because of Celebrity Big Brother

Followed by a load of posts complaining that ITV are showing 'yet another repeat', when in actual fact you could count the number of repeats they show in a week on one hand.

Why is the title written "Itv 1" Rolling Eyes

It's an interesting point - should channels change their schedule (especially a primetime one) at the last minute as a result of another channel? It was similar with C4 overrunning Big Brother last night to scupper five's Prison Break.

It's doing a great disservice to those who want to and look forward to watching the scheduled shows. And who looses out? Surely advertisers have paid for tonight's spot regardless of changes so it's only really the ratings and ITV's pride which would take a bit of a battering.

I think C4 over-ran Big Brother simply because there was alot of stuff to fit into a 42 minute slot!

Slightly off topic but I've always wondered why they don't write them "itv1", "itv2", "itv3", "itv4", "itv NEWS" - the 'itv' part is lowercase, after all.

It certainly is. Although Taggart is a better use of the slot than another formulaic reality show, and therefore provides a credible alternative, it's about time TV companies were banned from making last-minute changes unless in the public interest (ie. if a terrorist bombing takes place, it would be insensitive showing an episode of Casualty featuring a similar event).

C4 overrunning Big Brother to scupper a rival's new show? Playground behaviour at its worst. Even BBC1 was guilty of this with the first Fame Academy (though here the show began early).
