So can anyone confirm in the London, Meridian, Anglia, West Country, Channel or ITV West regions whether there has been an announcer before 9pm tonight?

Yes there has all evening.

Westcountry 2100 - Announcements ok here..

Isn't that from Leeds

No, London.

Only Central, YTV, Tyne Tees, Granada and Border come from Leeds.
London, Wales, Meridian, Westcountry, West, and Anglia play out from London. Channel I believe gets some sort of feed of Meridian.

Scottish, Grampian and UTV get (I think) a totally clean feed - not what is being seen on GMG North at present.

So your telling me i live just 60 miles out of London but yet my VO's come all the way down from Leeds? Pah, think of all the extra milliseconds i have to wait to hear the announcer. Think im gonna switch back to Anglia to gain a few extra seconds of life from not waiting for an announcers voice.

Just caught most of the credits of The Baby War on ITV1 just then. There didn't appear to be any ECP or voiceover, unless I missed it.

Announcer back at 9pm here on Yorkshire.

Cancel the car for Maggie!

Maybe the car was needed afterall.

For some reason at 7.30pm on ITV Yorkshire all we got was a dull "You're watching Yorkshire on ITV1" just like when London continuity started. It was done by an announcer that I don't even think works at ITV anymore

same here in central "your watching ITV1 Central" [extended music]

So where all the regions recorded months ago?

I'm only going on what has been posted here in the past but all the network presentation comes from London.

This is then fed up a line called KRS67 (I think) to the regional playout centre in Leeds as well as Scottish and UTV.

London also provides a regionalised service for ITV West, Wales, Westcountry, Anglia, London and Meridan.

The Leeds transmission centre plays presentation for ITV Yorkshire, Granada, Central, Border and Tyne Tees.

All network continuity, promotions and programmes are played up this line.

Regional announcements are sent up from London in advance.

I imagine the breakdown/emergency announcements were recorded some time ago and just left on the shelf until they were needed.

.. Is still the case?

Ah, dear old Kings Reach Studios line 67!

You ain't far wrong there, Humpty.

It's nice to have a new member around who's been paying attention.

(That sounds patronising, but ISN'T meant that way.)

Oh dear, during the break of Emmerdale, an ident began, the now and next one, all you could see was now, then a clip from the bill, then it just stopped, went to a breakbumper and the break continued as normal.

There were problems this afternoon, at least in the Tyne Tees area. After the 12.45 national weather, a VT clock appeared for a few seconds saying something like 'ITV News', then a random still, followed by 30 seconds or so of a still ITV1 logo. Then the ITV1 break-bumper played and the commercial break followed as usual.

I assume a promo failed to play?

Hi, I'm new on this forum. I know a guy who used to work at YTV as a freelance announcer. He told me that all ITV is fed from London, however Leeds acts as a back-up playout centre in case of line-failure. In the same way that Birmingham acts (or used to act as a back up to TV Centre for the Beeb). Also Leeds continues to feed YTV, Granada, Tyne Tees and Border with capacity to add in SMG stations or UTV if they ever sell-out to ITV plc. I asked him again where Central was fed from and he thought it was London.
