ITV 1 is launched

I have to say as well that the Granada North short idents with the lines animation are very similar to the Tyne Tees idents they used in 1996, when they took the sound off the short version of the ident and sped it up a bit, instead of just showing a static version.

They've just shown a single programme trailer. It's not too bad, at least the hearts are dying

But the smokey hearts on the endboards, were really cool, the wavy lines just don't do it for me I'm afraid. I don't really know where they fit in with the look of the channel.

I can only conclude that Sky went simple for the GE - especially as their studio is dark! White astons and a dark studio sounds a little odd!

I think the old trailers looked better, not 100% certain about this blue lines theme.
I expect that we may well hear the words 'You're watching ITV 1', a little more.
I'm also pretty sure that the little DOG they've made for the trailers will be permanent once arrival on Sky Digital takes place.

Granada seemed pretty prepared for it, they've used all of the right graphics etc - and haven't let anything slip out, like Carlton.

And on teletext too!

The TV listings still call it 'ITV', and the subheading on the front page (underneath 'TeLeTeXT') says 'ITV WEST MIDLANDS'.

Presumably it says ITV, not ITV1, on all regional variants(?).

Carlton Central try to mention both names - e.g. 'This is Carlton, part of ITV1' (and they did when it was ITV).

If they've only got time to mention one name, not both, they favour calling it Carlton.

Maybe it still says ITV as the channel is 'Independent Television' - if you know what I mean.

I think I preferred it as 'ITV'.

I prefer it as ITV1. Saying that, it's not changed much!

What are LWT going to do?

Speaking of LWT, have they kept the video wall look, or gone back to the proper generic look. I think they should go back - breaking ranks is bad!

I agree that when LWT were generic before, it looked awful - but that's cuz their logo was still red, white & blue. HTV's Dark blue logo was changed to yellow for the generic look, and Granada's G thingy was changed from silver to yellow. If LWT's logo had been turned yellow, it would have suited the spinning blue hearts background better. So the fact that it looked crap was THEIR OWN FAULT for being so stubborn as refuse to drop their traditional colou scheme!

I think it's stupid all ITV companies not looking the same in their idents.

PS: The Goal Rush on ITV2 is quite good - in my opinion.

But on Channel 4, doesn't it say 'Ch4' or something?
