I much prefer the swirly/smokey hearts in the background rather than the rotating ones. What gets me is how many people here are able to produce better images / idents than the actual broadcasters. Why bother comissioning English Pockett or Nabmie Lairn when Asa can do it better on his PC.
Ok this 're-jig' of the ITV brand to include ITV1 has occurred due to ITV Sport is being launched - as there does need to be a differential between the various ITV stations (nationally and NOT regionally!) when they are being mentioned over on ITV2 and ITV Sport.
So as the ITV sport is launching on 11th August its seems a good time to rebrand ITV to ITV1 (if a bit quick)
The first instance we will see of this will be at 11:25ish on saturday morning! All ITV idents (locally and nationally) have been rebranded making the itv logo a bit bigger with the addition of a boring 1.
The plan is to also rebrand all ITV promotions from this date to ITV1 but it will be such a huge task that it is still in the balance wether the NPU can cope with making two different versions of each promotion in the run up to 11th August!
There will be a major relaunch in the Autumn including new itv logos.
Ahh, so there will be new idents but in the Autumn? I thought I'd read that there was! Well, that's fair enough! Of course there's the argument of why modify the current idents but if they really want to make sure the rebrand day is August 11th, then I can see why.
I see what you mean about the NPU, although they've created two versions regularly each time they change their endboards. (I know one of the ITV regions let the smoky hearts trailer version out before the official day) so maybe it won't be as much of a problem? I suspect the modifications to that too will be minimal.
Thanks to everyone for their comments about that ident and Square Eyes - what a fine compliment! Although I've just used what the NPU created, so maybe you should thank them!

Granada usually let one trailer through the net early. We even got the current [itv] logo a day early when that first started!
New idents for the Autumn sound good, but I have to say ITV aren't very good at this rebranding business. The ITV Digital rebrand was 3 weeks ago, and we still have ONdigital logos everywhere on the EPG and with ONrequest. Now they are going to make a bodge up of this rebrand by sticking a '1' on the existing idents. I hope this is only for a couple of weeks, by 'Autumn', I think ITV normally mean September ?

Are they going to scrap the 'Eye Candy' motif from ONrequest (ITV Select) Is it going to be boring blue and yellow?
11.30am is obvious! Because no one will be up at 6am to see if they launch it then and at 9.25am (GMTV's end) they don't have one, it just goes staright into the CiTV ident. 11.30am is the first time a regional ident is played on a Saturday
Hmm the new itv1 promotions are a bit naff to say the least
Little is left of the hearts and there is this annoying 'curved lines' rotating horizontally on the end boards - i hope this is going to change as they are extremely unimaginative and dull!
