BONG! itsrobert steps down as TV Forum moderator BONG! Possible forum reshuffle to take place soon..

All the best Rob.

Brekkie has the highest post count - maybe he should get the gig. Wink

Haha! Yes, I was rather hoping to be the lead story on NAT tonight. It would have been quite a scoop for them Wink

Steve, I do indeed remember the few days that you hosted TVF on your site. It must have been in 2001. In fact, I seem to remember us having a crash that first summer. I'm pretty sure you hosted us before September 11th anyway. Gosh, those days do seem so long ago. Sadly, so many of the old school members have long since disappeared without a trace. IIRC, we actually only had one forum then - everything went in there. Eventually, we got The Lounge and Requests and then Media Websites & Mocks at some point along the line. The final forum to be opened was The Newsroom a few years ago. Thinking back, so much has changed since those early days. I'd never have thought we'd have such an active community now with thousands of members - to be honest, I didn't even think TVF would last until 2008!

Thanks again to everyone for your well wishes. I must say I am quite overwhelmed.

For some reason I can't remember, this site stopped working so Asa moved the database (members et al) over to one of my sites which I loaned TVF for a few days. I never actually did anything but because it was on my site, I was technically able to do the fancy moderator stuff.

my god i'd forgotten about that. that was ages ago back when we were on flakey old Ikonboard. It's terrifying enough to think Metropol will be five this year let along looking further into the past of this place.

Good luck Rob... I remember my few days as a moderator in the long and distant past so you deserve a medal for doing it for so long! Does anyone else remember the few days we spent in purple because TV Forum broke!? Must have been, what, 2001?!

Ah happy days...!!

They were the days!

The regular forum crashes, when they stopped I think that was when this place started going downhill Wink .

Cheers for all of your efforts over the years Rob, much appreciated.

Just out of curiousity who's still moderating other than Asa and Charlie? Ison never appears anymore and we all know MrTomServo left just to carry on with his life.

Not sure when Ison last logged in but according to his post count his last post was on 23rd October 2007!

Perhaps we should be looking for two new moderator's then, but that's Asa's decision.

I'm not saying Nick & Hyma would make bad mods, but people would probably think it a little bit unfair as they seem to run things like they own the place...

In my opinion it's got to be someone who's dedicated to the forums (ie has been here a long time) is quick to act when the rules are broken or when the trolls arrive, and someone who's not going to let the privilege of being a moderator go to their head.

But, as I said, it's Asa's decision, so we'll just see what he decides.

In all seriousness now. Gav and Hyma. Good team them 2 and Asa and Chaz would have less work to do than they do now Wink

Not being bias and definately not drunk.

Here's an idea, Asa.
Maybe have an X Factor style vote (although, this one would be free, and our votes would count! Cool ).
All members vote on who they want to be new mod, excluding themselves. Then the two with the most votes go through, with Asa deciding which is the winner.
Or, is that a rubbish suggestion?

Were you here last time there was a mod vote?

Let's just say the candicates gave themselves more promotion than ITV gave News at Ten
