Seconded - the last thing we want is someone who thinks there opinion is the only one and becomes rude or infact downright insulting if their opinions are questioned, in particular towards the new or younger members of this forum or those who do not belong to the cliques on here.

As StuartPlymouth mentioned that kind of narrows it down a bit!

This thread has gone from being a festival of enchantment and well-wishes for Rob's retirement from long service to being one entirely dominated by people twittering on about whom they would or wouldn't like as a moderator. Many of them are from johnny-come-latleys who's personal axe-grinding is of little interest to the membership - whether in a clique or not.

I'm pretty sure Rob would have brought the curtain down on this by now himself, so could I respectfully ask the flag bearers and henchmen alike to start a thread in the media websites section?

I'm sure everyones opinion of everything is entirely valid, its just that its so much easier to ignore it in there. That way, when Asa adds to his announcement his message won't be lost in a lake of sticky treacle.

Interesting points there Gavin - of course it makes not a jot of difference whether you are a Johnny Come Lately or a Johnny Come Early - everyone is a member of this forum entitled to an opinion irrelevant of whether you made 20,000 posts or 20, joined today or several years ago. Simply put - No one is any better than anyone else - we all belong to the one membership.

I agree the thread should be moved elsewhere though.

Unfortunately, the fact is that we are not all sensible, mature, responsible and reasonable individuals. If that was the case the board wouldn't need moderators in the first place.

I agree that this thread has passed its "sell-by-date" though.

A part of me is thinking why not unsticky it from being an announcement to a normal thread and see if it bobs and let others decide if to click instead of complaining about it as if it's forced on them.

Another part reckons a split and deletion of all the stuff about possible electorates of modshippery is more suitable as it doesn't really matter as it's no vote and Asa will decide in the future and announce it at the time and hopefully lock it so a new thread dismissing the new mod's appointment can appear in the Media Websites graveyard.

The third part's got a serious craving for Jaffa Cakes and will sate it soon.
