If its only two episodes, why on earth pull it? Isn't it better to make a decision and go through with that decision, instead of ripping it apart half way through?

I knew it was going to be a flop. I hope that Nigel Marvin thing gets the axe too.

This shows that once ITV1 or BBC1 have got an underperforming show on their hands they are in a lose lose situation and can't please anyone

Surely they can please everyone who agreed with their decision (axe or keep)???

The BBC simply don't axe things- they've been invested in by licence fee payers and so will be shown. They may get moved around a bit in the schedule but they will be shown.

The best way of pleasing everyone is simply not to commission such utter crap.

But if there were viewers who had seen the first part and were waiting for the second, which was then pulled, surely they would be disappointed?

But what's better... disappointing about a million viewers (probably less, the viewing figures refer to those who watched, not those who enjoyed) or entertaining potentialy 5 times that figure with a programe they want to watch? - IBAOTN is always an audience winner

But the problem is IBAOTN is a repeat, and ITV would attract more attention and bad publicity for axing a show and putting a repeat in its place than it would by airing both episodes, I think. If it were more than two shows, something like Davina, then things might be different.

At the end of the day, ITV is a business...Charles Allen's business. In fact I looked at the Share prices for ITV Plc today and they were one of the 'Big Losers'.

ITV really don't care what they commission so long as it attracts viewers. There is no thought process with them in this day and age anymore. Its a case of... there's an idea - we'll commission it..

ITV - The People's Channel? No, The Shareholders Channel.

What about the poor bugger who would have been the star of the 2nd episode, and now its never going to be aired!!

Last year I was in the audience of a new series of 'Celebrities under pressure' and Dale Winton’s 2005 'look-alike awards'.

Now both of these are over 18 months old and still have not been aired!!

One thing I always say about situations like this is it's important to remember that TV companies are far more interested in the people NOT watching their programmes than the people watching them!

1.7m on a Saturday night is incredibly low - and I think the programmes that fell to the axe last year were getting 3-4m viewers.

Repeats of Afterlife have also been dropped from the 9p.m. Sunday slot, after it got an audience share of under 10% last week.

Not surprised about that.

I hope that Bads Lads Army survives the cull - it's getting less than 3m but is up against Big Brother, and unlike Love Island and co, it's actually a very good show and gets quite a bit of critical acclaim - it justs needs a better slot!

Yes it annoys me that Bad Lads Army is against Big Brother. I always have to wait until the Sunday late night repeat on ITV2.

What is replacing Afterlife on Sunday?

Also, in general what type of shows do you think ITV should run when they replace something in their schedule?

For example, I think if Love Island does get dropped a couple of weeks early ITV could do alot worse than re-running Survivor in the 11pm slot!
