ITN is pleased to announce that it will shortly be providing a comprehensive online news service to ITV. ITV is the largest and most popular commercial television service in the UK. The online news service will cover Britain, World, Entertainment and Sport and complements the on-screen ITV News already produced by ITN.

ITN.co.uk will also be re-launched as a news portal, providing fast-access links to ITV's new web site. There will also be links to the news services that we already produce for Channel 4 News, 5 News and LBC, together with a seven language news web site for EuroNews-the pan-European news channel owned and operated by ITN. ITN.co.uk will also include regularly updated promotions and our first comprehensive company section.

We are simultaneously launching Britain's first 3D news environment on ITN.co.uk, offering news headlines, video and audio content to users with suitably equipped PCs. Developed in conjunction with Smart VR, this 3D environment is just one example of the cutting-edge technologies that ITN is deploying to make multimedia news content more accessible and compelling to consumers.

These changes will come into effect on October 9th 2001.

We hope you enjoy these new services.

Enjoy!

I just check the site and the popup window now says:

Hey, it's only a day late!

Yep, it's changed. Not majorly, the only difference is that all of the news is at itv.com/news and itn.co.uk now contains info about what ITN do and also the virtual studio (which I haven't tried yet, but I think it lets you see stories and watch the ITN Channel and that).

Quite nice actually, there's a lot of behind the scenes info not dissimilar from the BBC News 24 site, but the ITN one is obviously better.

Oooh Noooo. I don't like this at all, it seems as if ITN has completely sold out to ITV News. They don't have any of their own content now, it's all under the umberella of either ITV, C4 or C5 news.

No this is not a good move.

Sad

I have to say I don't like it either. itn.co.uk used to be a great website - full of content. Now, however, it seems that the amount of content has decreased and any mention of the ITN News Channel (and the new identity as a broadcaster they tried so hard to create over the last year) is hidden away.

I don't like it - why give ITV all the credit for ITN's online news service? - seems a bit strange.....
