Noticed today that NTL look to be having some cash-flow problems and are cutting jobs. Not wanting to scaremonger or anything, but surely this must be more bad news for the ITN News Channel, which gets lots of its funding from NTL. If the channel's not pulling the viewers and NTL need to save cash, I think we can work out the rest...
The ITN News channel has already announced it is to close at the end of the year.

There's been no definite announcement about it shutting down - I think it was one possibility that's been looked at to save money. I don't think it will close down at all.

The ITN News Channel has not announced it is closing down because it is not (yet).
ITN have decided to take various other cost-saving measures such as making the Early-morning News (0530 ITV1) an updated repeat of the previous night's News at Ten, updated by News Channel staff.
It is also likely that the station will be renamed the ITV News Channel. Of course, things change but at the moment ITN are strenuously denying the reports which appeared in various parts of the media of the station's imminent closure.

Why do those self-obsessed people at ITV think that anyone gives a toss about ITV as a brand. No-one does.
