ITV have a website, as we all know, but ITV have put up: ITV News Coming Soon!
What, are ITN dropping ITV???

And I think that it should change the look to go with Hearts look, any views or opinions on either....

Yeah, ITN were happy to provide website news to ITV but ITV said no!

ITN are not going to be dropped as ITV's news provider and if they did - don't have the hearts look!!

Cheers,
Asa

Oh, thankyou! By the way: at what time is the update going to be?

I think ITN on ITV looks, and sounds terrible!! It should have a corporate look, like BBC. (Look North, NR South East, Newsline)
ITV regional news is horrid, especially the scary calendar thunderclaps!!!

Actually Asa, I know as much as people around here hate Sky News, putting the personal views aside for a moment, C3 News (the consortium of broadcasters) is actually looking to be a far more preferable option at network centre.
Rumours in the Guardian a few weeks ago suggested that ITV wanted to cut the cost of news, and with C3 News only costing 30 million, compared to ITN's 50, C3 is currently a preferable bidder.
ITN said that when they launched their news channel, it would be a test of who was better, and that they 'Relished a fight'. However, viewing figures for the channel suggest otherwise.
So with ITV wanting to cut down on news costs, and ITN seemingly wanting to increase them, then ITN is actually under serious threat. It is estimated that whilst 50% of revenue comes from the ITV contract, 100% of their profit comes from there.
So whilst I would not want ITN to be dropped as ITV's news provider, it would arguably hurt ITN more if they lost the Channel Four News franchise, as that is now providing to be the best news programme on terrestrial TV, make little mistake, people within the industry see this as a serious threat to ITN.
And ITN have actually recently lost favour with ITV.
There have been a string of arguments between the two.
For example, ITN wanting to provide a newsflash of the concorde crash, and ITV refusing them did not go down at all well.
ITN and ITV not working together on the ITV website is another fine example. and remember ITV website is managed by Granada Broadband, and of course, ITN is managed by Granada and Carlton, along with numerous others. And although this sounds a bizarre comment, and believe me, I did not fully understand when I read it, but if ITN did loose the contract, it would actually prove better for Granada and Carlton, as they would not have to pay as much money for news, whilst putting ITN on the stockmarket at the same time, and earning profits that way. ITN of course, provide news for other sources, and as I said before, it would actually hurt them more to loose the C4 contract than the ITV one.
