Would the regions still exist? (July 2005)

If the ITC were still about,would they have let ITV1 get rid of the regions?

the regions do still exist. just the 30 second clip which says 'ANGLIA', 'CENTRAL' etc etc now says ITV1.

The ITC oversaw the groundwork for a "single" ITV in the 90s. It would have made no difference if OFCOM had come into being or not.

Now the IBA on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. I think they might have had a somewhat heavier hand.

I think not - I reckon even the IBA would have had to make some concessions by this point, although most likely not on the scale we've seen thus far under the ITC/OFCOM.

Well the thing with the ITC was,they were there when the 1993 franchise round happened.I'm not sure how they contributed to the 2002 murder,but i think Ofcom have done a lot worse than the ITC.
