Why isn't TV's Dale Winton on TV more?

It's an odd question I know. He's on the highest rating Lottery show, which usually is the highest rating shows of the Saturday nights that it airs. I'm sure part of the appeal is Dale's personalty and his chemistry with the contestants. The last time he did other shows where the revival of Supermarket Sweep about 5 years ago and the first series of Hole in the Wall.

He also stopped doing his Radio 2 show, and was replaced by the equally legendary Tony Blackburn.

But there must be a second format out there for him, when Nick Knowles picks up loads of stuff? Or perhaps he like to do his few days recording a couple of series of In It to Win It and taking a load of time off.

I looked on Wikipaedia, not because I believe everything written on there is gospel truth, but I thought there may be something written about his current personal life that may give a clue.

The extensive article about his 'Personal Life' reads as follows:

Quote:
Winton is openly gay.

Winton is an Arsenal fan.

Whether there's a link between these two facts I couldn't quite determine!

OK so hes gay so that's why he's not on TV?, that's disgraceful by the tv bosses if that's the case.

I think that's defiantly not the reason for it as Graham Norton, Paul O'Grady, Brian Dowling, Alan Carr, all seem to do rather well.

maybe hes taking it easy then, but yeah it would be great to see him in some other format.

I imagine it's probably, at least to a degree, by his own choice. He may well be working on another TV or radio project we're not aware of.

I think I read somewhere that he spends a lot of time abroad in Spain I think so maybe he just gets enough from in it to win it to live off for the rest of the year he spends living the Spanish lifestyle.

I wonder though, if he's taking it easy, why he decided to do that atrocious Cash For Gold advert?

I was watching a clip of him on Pets Win Prizes on YouTube the other day (don't ask!) and he doesn't seem to have aged at all.

Perhaps he's fed up with hosting dire rubbish? Can hear him now.. "Sorry darling but unless that cheque's waved in front of me and the format's guaranteed to work... you can do one! Until then I'll be on my boat in the Seychelles.. ring me when In It To Win It's back." Laughing
