2. Can you Pick up the IRN News Feed Via a Sky Digi-box and Mini-dish with some Adjustments to the dish? And if so, what would the Frequencys i need be?

Thanks in advance folks!

BBC World can be received using a Minidish from Hotbird at 13E. As for IRN, I think the Minidish might be too small. Also, I don't recommend you use a digibox, they only work properly when they can download Sky's data from the Astra 2 satellites (the ones used by Sky).

Yep, I'd recommend buying a dedicated digital satellite receiver for non-Sky channels. With a Sky digibox, any new channels don't automatically go on the end of the channel list. You have to manually go through menus to find them. A digital satellite receiver would be a more effective way of watching BBC World and the rest of the foreign material available in Europe.

BBC World used to be only available FTA on Hotbird 6 at 13E, but it is also now available on the Astra satellites at 19.2E. So, choose whichever one you want. With Astra 19.2E you get mostly German stuff with the odd bit of French and Italian. With Hotbird, you get a lot of Italian with splatterings of German, French, Polish, Austrian etc. as well as Middle Eastern channels.

You can receive Sky News Radio on a Sky digibox - you can only add it to your "Other Channels" list though.

It's available on Freq 12188 Pol: H Symbol Rate 27.5 and FEC 2/3 - it can be found under the label "snr3" - and last time I checked it was unencrypted (you used to need a special card from Sky to unencrypt it).

You can also get CNN Radio on 12051V (same symbol rate and FEC) it's under the label "5606".

Yep it's better to get a dedicated receiver with CAM option IMHO, they are not expensive these days, go for Technomate receivers, solid as a rock and can find new channels in the background!
