The current idents on RTÉ One will be 13 years olds this year apart from a tweak to the font branding. Surely this must be the longest period for the same idents to be used. Red Bee Media designed the current idents. RTÉ must be considering to revamp the idents at this stage, even if they are designed in-house?

Maybe with the relaunch of RTE News due later this month, we might be seeing some new idents too? Just speculation, but if they are 13 years old, boy have RTE kept them for a long time. Much longer than BBC One did with their circles idents which ran for ten years from 2006.

They (or some of them) do date from 2006, but the channel presentation was revamped in 2014, with new everything else (promo endboards etc). The idents were kept, but cropped and with the logo changed (the 2014 logo is larger, centred, and animates on screen, whereas the original 2006 versions had a static logo to the left of the screen, similarly positioned to how the logo in the previous 2003 idents was).

An interesting new development was announced by Nuala Carey last week. Although Declan Buckley has mentioned this before.

Each new edition of Telly Bingo shown on RTÉ One is now available on the Irish National Lottery's Youtube channel.

There are 6 editions available as of today.

Telly Bingo still going? I didn't think that would have a large attraction in Ireland would have ended years ago?

Given that the Irish Lottery is now run by a private venture - Premier Lotteries Ireland (Camelot in different clothing) - if no one or low sales of the Tele Bingo game, you'd assume it would have been dropped long ago.

Doesn't it air at lunchtimes? So this would mean the game is aimed at the older community?

It did originally air in the evening. Hence the rather memorable jingle, “Telly Bingo, Tuesday nights!”

While I watching the Lottery shows from RTÉ One HD for the past while. There has been a noticeable PQ degradation on Winning Streak for the past 3 episodes since the start of the new series. The PQ has been downscaled to upgraded SD instead of Full HD which I think looks really awful. The audio is not sounding good either because it has been downsampled to another sound codec which I can barely hear properly from RTÉ One HD. You can see it when looking at the on screen graphics from all of the games being played. Even the RTÉ One HD DOG is blurred & washed out with the colours & lighting when on the screen. I wonder why did that happen to Winning Streak because it used to look really good when episodes from past series looked great in HD.

Does anyone notice when watching it at home from a HD or UHD TV?

I watched it tonight and didn't really notice it. Winning Streak is made in Studio 1 at RTE, and I don't know if it has been fully equipped for HD? I presume it has been.

I'm watching The Ray Darcy Show now on RTÉ One HD via Saorview.

The difference in PQ between the two shows is really big with The Ray Darcy Show being the big winner here.

Ray's show is made in Studio 4, Winning Streak in Studio 1 - so now we know Studio 1 is not catered fully in HD then.

Noel Edmonds had a decent enough interview on the Ray D'arcy Show tonight. Sadly being Ray it was not one of the greatest of interviews, but fun. The studio audience really liked Noel, cheering along for him.

RTE used to air live simulcast of his Late Late Breakfast Show on Saturday nights on RTE 2 during the 1980s. Also by 1990 most of Ireland had multi-channel via cable television or spill over signal and watched House Party. So he is well known in Ireland.
