Hooray for multi-channel for the Irish viewer going by the dross RTE are offering. The usual bag of dreadful programming, as RTE know excluding Mrs Browns Boys, most Irish viewers will be watching the UK channels or on demand over the festive season. Christmas Night on RTE1 is usually appalling going by what I have read of their schedules over the last decade or so.

RTÉ Entertainment articles are worse than BBC Newsbeat articles more often than not - but then again much of what RTÉ classifies as "entertainment news" is nothing more than gossip.

I'm sure, though, that like Richard Dawson in The Running Man, they'll argue "We give 'em what they want!"

An iOS version of the new RTE Player (Domestic Version) turned up on my recommendations list tonight. Strangely it's working on my iPad despite not being in the UK iOS App Store.

Very very nice indeed.

The Android one is up as well. Can confirm you can cast from it and the picture appears to be 720p.

Indeed it does and is. Casting works very well too.

Since when has selected TG4 programming been offered on the RTE player, spotted a few there tonight. (A bit S4C on the iPlayer like)

Fair City has a new studio lot on the grounds of RTÉ Montrose. It will be filmed in HD for the first time.

I assume it was just an extension of their outdoor filming lot, and they are still in the two sound stages A and B at RTE for all interior scenes?

There are new short updated titles for Fair City. They are just given a minor revision with the new shot of Carrigstown at the end.

New shots of Malloy's Motors are now included in it.

The current idents on RTÉ One will be 13 years olds this year apart from a tweak to the font branding. Surely this must be the longest period for the same idents to be used. Red Bee Media designed the current idents. RTÉ must be considering to revamp the idents at this stage, even if they are designed in-house?

New slides are now up for the RTÉ Player for next Sunday's episode of Resistance. They were shown on RTÉ2 tonight. All I can say that they are coloured in a real dark pink & white type underneath while set against a black background. The colour doesn't look good as it looks a bit off on them.
