It looks fine to me but nothing special. It's a shame they dropped the fada from the player bit. Made it look a little more unique.

Hmm. When I first saw it, I thought they've rebranded as 'RTE Puayer'

I see what the graphic designer was trying to do, but the triangle doesn't look equal proportioned, and ends up rather forced and awkward.

Why not just have the play symbol entirely in the A and have it as the shape of the close counter.

They have an unstable version of the new player up on Google Play.

But they have some nice screenshots & a different logo.

I'm currently in Dublin at the moment and the hotel has full Saorview, but instead of having UTV, the hotel TV has ITV London.

I've got BBC One & Two NI so slightly odd that I'm getting ITV. If it's coming down an aerial, how would it be tuned to London rather than UTV?

They could have Saorview from an aerial and the UK channels via Freesat. Do they have a full line up of UK channels, including ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4? If they do, I think they will be provided from a satellite feed.

Yeah it's also got 2, 3 and 4 and ITV is on Channel 54.

All the channels appear on the Saorview EPG which makes it even more interesting.

They are using Freesat then, and UTV is available if you enter a Northern Ireland postcode on the system, maybe your hotel entered an English postcode?

What hotel are you in, if you want to say?

Hotels in my experience often have completely different and wrong BBC and ITV regions set, there's an awful lot of random button pushing by untrained individuals that goes on in the equipment cupboard !

In the analogue days, it would be rare to encounter an ITV region other than UTV in an Irish hotel - and even rarer if that other region wasn’t HTV.

Nowadays, though you’ll still see UTV frequently, it seems anything can crop up - I have even encountered Channel! Central, which is or was the default on the Sky EPG, crops up quite a bit though.

Fact: My hotel in Bray in 2017 had ITV London, and it was analogue cable, Every channel was named BBC1, even RTÉ One Laughing
