The only real big one's they're missing are X factor and Britain's Got Talent, there's a hole in about 20 Saturdays over the year, Plus that one week when Britain's got Talent airs All week. However, I presume they will just show other programmes from ITV. They were never going to go head to head with Vincent Browne. Vincent is on at that time because TV3 doesn't believe in News. UTV on the other hand have a totally different approach. Their News Service is one of the main representations of their station. They think that News will get viewers, and they'd be right.
Even SKY News Ireland was able to get 140,000 for it's 10pm Bulletin when it was aired On Sky News. They had a disadvantage of only being in about half of households in the republic and every house that can get SKY can also get lots of other stations.
UTV is planning to be on Saorview as well as Sat and Cable and that should give them 99 percent coverage. If they were getting 250,000 by the end of the first year they'd be happy.

They'll either show Good Morning Britain or Infomercials. I'd presume that Good Morning Britain would be preferred but I wouldn't think they're giving Breakfast Television much Thought. TV3's Success with Ireland AM, isn't exactly great when you look at the real figures. Their market share is around 30 percent but that's only 50 -60,000 viewers. People are still slow on this side of the Atlantic to turn on their TV at breakfast. Advertisers are not knocking down the door to broadcast at 7am... Now mid morning is a different story entirely.
Taking on SIx one will be tough. They might be as well off to put on a half hour sitcom at Six, A news headlines at 6.27 and then relay the 6.30 ITN News which would be watched by a decent amount of the population, especially those that want more hard news and international news, from 6.30 Six One goes lighter a lot of the time and also has a longish sports Bulletin.

TV3 launched a new set this morning for Ireland AM. The new set is in their HD studio and has been launched in preparation for the show's fifteenth anniversary. The new set features a sofa area, a kitchen and a fashion area.

Personally I think the set looks terrible, very dated and just poorly designed in general. The colours used look terrible and don't really go with the graphics, and the wallpaper behind the sofa the guest sits on is distracting. Others posting on their Facebook and Twitter pages seem to agree saying that it looks like "a tacky ice cream shop", that it has “Garish colours, looks like a playschool, awful”, and another saying that it looks like a block of Neapolitan ice cream.
Whilst what was there before did need something done, I'm not so sure this is it.

The sad thing is that still in 2014, TV3 have not gone HD at all yet.
There was a mix-up with some of the guests appearing on the show saying on twitter they were going in HD this morning when in fact the opposite was the case.
I don't watch Ireland Am but I have to say well done to TV3 on that one.

And they still aren't using their new HD studio. Is it just sitting there lying idle? Vincent Browne began broadcasting from it some time ago but reverted back to the green (blue) screen studio. Does any TV3 studio broadcast from the new Sony studio?
