Nothing would move a lot of the Radio 1 audience. In fact, you could change all the presenters and ratings would stay roughly the same. The proof here is Pat Kenny. He left the Today show for Newstalk and almost none of his listeners followed. In fact Sean O Rourke had a slight overall increase, Of course, that was not a reflection in any way on Pat. However, you could cut the wage bill on the station by millions and you wouldn't lose a listener. The one exception to that is possibly Joe Duffy.
Off topic I guess, but RTE Radio 1 is complacent because that’s exactly what their listenership wants - the same programmes as it’s always had, and as little change as possible. Some of the shows on the station still date back to the 1980s or even earlier. (The fact that it is a station that has “shows”, instead of just DJs playing relatively similar music at different times of day, is probably an oddity in itself.)
