3e to get a new on air look in November according to yesterday's Sunday Business Post. Interestingly they intend to "crowdsource" some of the new idents.

RTE One has launched it's new schedule with the majority of it this season main devoted to documentaries and apparently drama even though it's drama output does appear to be very small.

A new drama filmed in conjunction with the BAI and funded by the Irish Licence Fee is Charlie which is a new three part drama series profiling the life and times of Former Taoiseach Charles J Haughey which is to be played by Aidan Gillen. Mr Haughey's advisor PJ Mara is to be played by Tom-Vaughan Lawlor from the major crime series Love/Hate.

There will be a total of 3 episodes for Charlie which will each last for 90 minutes in length.

Also I heard that RTE Two is get a relaunch with a new schedule along with it's new on air identity to air sometime between September and January.

RTE Two's relaunch is no surprise. They've been due one since RTE One updated their pres.

A very tame new schedule launch this year for RTE One - Charlie will be the big talking point of course. Ryle Nugent, head of sport (and on-air, lead rugby union commentator) is currently acting channel controller so it's likely he's playing it safe and we'll see the long term new guy put his stamp on the channel next autumn.

Re RTE Two, nothing official out of Montrose on that but there's been rumours circulating that this is going to happen and the separate new season launches for the first time ever lends creedance to this theory.

I imagine RTÉ and TV3 are waiting to see just what it is that UTV have up there sleeves. I note above that 3e is getting a relaunch in November, I wonder if they are following RTÉ's example and launching there second channel as HD before their primary channel.

I doubt it. Apart from Thursday night Europa League and it's FYI news programme (which is being cancelled) the channel is nearly all either US imports and repeats.

Both RTÉ One and Two are due new on air presentation.

Surely it's time for Lee, Martin and others to pitch some of their fantastic ideas.

He's literally there just to keep things ticking over until the new guy arrives in November. However, RTE One doesn't really change from year to year in any great way. The news is always on at 6 and 9, Nationwide is on at 7 on it's days, The Late Late is on a Friday and Drama is Usually on a Sunday.

I believe the full press launch for UTV Ireland is Tuesday - be interested to hear if anything interesting is announced.

Ireland Live at 10 is the name of the new Hour long show...at 10. Presented by Alison Comyn.

So it looks as though they're not going to go head to head with Vincent Browne. However the programme will have some crossover with Prime Time on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
