As reported elsewhere, the weather on ITV now covers and details Ireland which it hasn't done before, and is something the BBC and Channel 4/5 don't do. Something to it or just co-incidence...? Perhaps the deal for ITV's takeover of UTV is close?

If these are being shown on UTV Ireland it could just be them cost saving and buying it in cheaper from ITV rather than having their own team.

They aren't (other than during GMB) - I think it's people adding two and two together to make twenty to be honest.

Some news for you from today and yesterday.

Saorview and Freesat are team up to market a new combi-box for Saorview Connected; the new IPTV service from RTE. The Sunday Times is reporting that the launch date for the new service will be from next Spring.

Also RTE Weather and Met Eireann have done a partial relaunch of their weather forecast with some new weather graphics.

That's not officially announced, just a report in the Sunday Times to go by so far.

The new weather graphics seem to consist mainly of a new font and some animations, they aren't radically different.

They are still well needed, the original set, while having very minor tweaks every now and then, are based on a set of graphics the BBC used in 2004, and they only got 4 or 5 years out of those.

TV3 and 3e both off the air. TV3 is showing a holding slide and 3e has gone black completely.

What's most worrying for TV3 is almost no one else noticed that they had gone off air Shocked

I was at TG4 a few years ago when it fell off the air, (to such an extent that the analogue transmitters shut themselves down) Admittedly it was just after cutting to France 24 for the overnight sustaining feed. We were
doing some work on the Pres Suite, but the attempt to patch the France 24 feed directly to the Tx output went horribly wrong. Anyway, not a peep from any internet forum, and no phone calls (except RTENL's control room !)
