David McCullough had mentioned at the end of Prime Time tonight that it will get a brand new studio, presumably with new titles, an extended programme & an online BTS programme on RTÉ Player from Tuesday the 1st of October.

Brand new studio? Surely Studio 4 at RTE is the best studio, it is the largest, are they moving into Studio 1?

Possibly they really mean a “brand new set” rather than actual studio.

ITV3 and ITV4 are the only channels now from ITV on Virgin Ireland?

Yep I’m a customer and we get ITV 3 and 4. However a lot of the sport on ITV 4 is blacked out for copyright reasons. For instance the Rugby World Cup matches on ITV 4 are blacked out as Eir Sport have the rights in Ireland. As mentioned in a previous post we used to have ITV 2 but it was removed as many of its programmes are carried on the Virgin Media channels.

Strange though, as ITV Sport on those channels would probably be unblocked if you had Sky or Freesat?

Well yes, because you cannot block a free to air signal (Channel 4 and FreeSports, as I mentioned earlier, both encrypt their ROI versions for that very reason, though I haven’t seen anything blocked on C4 in years and FreeSports now offers alternative programming instead of just blocking). That blocking has been happening a long time now on ITV4 on Virgin and it seems to be virtually all sport with few exceptions (La Liga, for the brief period at the start of this season it was on ITV4, being one of the few).

Can I hazard a guess that ITV Racing on ITV4 is blocked, as Virgin Media One do air ITV Racing at times.

No strangely enough we do get ITV4’s Racing coverage. Much of the Horse Racing that Virgin Media shows is on ITV which we don’t get of course.

Seems The Late Late Show has introduced a programme DOG in the bottom right hand corner tonight, an odd move for RTÉ in a non news/sport context

So anyone want to lay a bet that VM One's new daytime schedule will be pulled by the end of the year and revert back to their original schedule by January 2020?

I don't see this new schedule winning, I think people will miss This Morning and the current line up. Just my opinion as an outsider looking in, but judging by this promo, it looks awful.

The new schedule launched yesterday and it doesn’t seem to have gone down well guessing by comments on Virgin Media One’s social media pages. Personally, it doesn’t bother me as i never watched This Morning on Virgin Media One anyway, but i’ve taken a liking to the new Live at 12:00 bulletin. They had an extended bulletin (2 hours) today due to Budget 2020.

EDIT: Someone has uploaded a cap of today’s budget special:
