Digital Terrestrial in Ireland. Tests began in 1998 and public trails started last August and is expected to launch in 2008.

Heres the list of channels that are in the middle of the trials. Some of which have no picture or sound.

Most of the channels are encrypted (conax) only RTE1, RTE2, TV3 and TG4, plus the national radio stations, are free to air. They are also testing MPEG4 streams. The boxes being used for the "trial" are the same ones used for the DTT HD tests in the UK.

Why are they providing BBC3, BBC4 etc but not BBC1 and 2?

Bit pointless unless they are going to add them later though not to put them on since most people would want to see them and if they are trying to encourge people to take up DTT they need channels that people actually watch
