IPTV is still a developing format, considering the masses of bandwidth broadcasting full frame video over the internet. There is still some way to go before you would see some kind of nationwide roll out of a full IPTV service although it is starting to happen;
Telewest's Teleport TV works on a similar principle, there is the product available in London, I think it is called Homechoice, there are the BBC and Channel 4 who stream (albeit in considerably low quality) video on their websites, and also BT are to roll out a Video over IP service soon.

Whatever happened to Television Choice or whatever it was called that was advertised back in about 1997/8? Did anything ever become of it? I seem to recall it being fronted by some very bad Shredded Wheat-style adverts of anarchic youngsters storming television buildings demanding a shakeup, followed by a rip of the classic Dad's Army quote "right, what's your name?" "ooh, don't tell him, steve".
Hillarious stuff....

I don't know if that kind of offer exists in the UK but in France, ISP providers broadcast TV Channels on their network.
For 30 Euros you can access the Internet (up to 20M, unlimited traffic), phone as much as you want (on landlines) watch TV (on your TV, via Ethernet or Wifi), access Pay TV and even watch a movie with Video On Demand.
There were also HDTV broadcasting during Roland Garros tennis tournament on ISP providers Free and Orange.
Of course, this offer is only available in main cities.
