10:00 today saw the launch of 'Investigation Discovery' (ID) on the Sky DSat platform in the documentaries genre (Knowledge subscription pack).

It's Discovery's response to the joint A&E/BSkyB 'Crime & Investigation Network' which launched in mid-2006.

I missed the actual launch, as Sky were messing about with the EPG. Ch 551 was previously occupied by 'Discovery Knowledge+1' which has now moved to Ch 557. No doubt this is why the EPG initially had gaps:

Anyhoo, they seem to have some nice idents, here are pics of the first two I've seen:

And the videos:

EDIT: Here is the third Ident, which is quite nice, more CSI than 'Alibi', perhaps. There doesn't appear to be any V/Os during the continuity, just the idents and music.

The dog looks bloody massive! Compaired to the small crime dog.

I dont like the way ID are showing 4:3 programmes , with the thick black bars down the left/right hand sides!

God help us if they show 14:9 cut out programmes.

Well if you're watching on a 16:9 TV (and it's set up right) you'd have those bars whatever. If you've got it on Stretchyvision or some other god-awful mode, then you're watching a distorted picture.
