I'd thought I'd start a thread on TV from around the world, starting off with Channel 9 Australia, they have recently rebranded, just incase you don't know, this is their old Ident:

New (celeb - well sort of) Ident

Yep nine rebranded with a new logo, the idents are not so bad. The news on the otherhand needs alot of work.

looking around the forum I saw a promo on five freaturing a countdown to prison break. Well prison break just premiered here yesterday with great figures with 53% of the primetime audience watching and peaked at 2.09 million viewers (huge by aust standards)

Check out the countdown, unlike the UK aust nets dont have to have a break between programs so instead of a long 3 minute countdown like ficve, ours went for just 30 seconds. No ident was played between the shows, just straight into PB. Sevens generic credits background has also changed.

Yes, head on over to the superb http://www.idents.tv/blog (it was about time a proper Aus pres site came into being!) for some downloads. They're seem quite 'British' if that's possible.

Aside from that, there's a wonderful Ch 9 "Still the One" promo on there but what on earth is our Richie Benaud doing in it?!! (1:06 in)

EDIT: Ahh, a quick read of his bio reveals all...

I must admit that's a very good promo. A song using a tagline, getting everybody to sing it. Simple idea, well produced and very effective.

It's the sort of thing that ITV1 could have done when their celebrities were around. Then again, they did do the ITV50 promo very well indeed.

Nine has been doing "Still the One" promos for as long as I can remember. "Still the One" has been Nine's slogan for years now, and even with this rebranding exercise, and much speculation about the future of the slogan, they've decided to stick with it.

I actually think the look is a step backwards. It's still quite a polished look - I can't argue against that - but it doesn't look distinctive... It doesn't say "This is Channel Nine" to me... Well, apart from the new voiceover on the IDs saying "This is Channel Nine".

And frankly, the new news look is an absolute disappointment. A particularly poor effort, I think.
