There's some great German presentation from YouTube user TVonAIR who I'm guessing works for a playout company (like Red Bee over here) and as such, has collected some unique bits and pieces of German presentation. It's well worth taking a look through his videos.

My favourites are from Sat.1:

Arrow General promo
ArrowSponsorship
ArrowIdents (probably the lamest part of Sat.1's current presentation)
ArrowOdd advert segment where they advertise the single they use in their main promo, great song!
ArrowFilm ident
ArrowNice little filler
ArrowSwiss version of filler
ArrowAustrian version of filler
ArrowPromotion during credits
ArrowTechnical difficulties + news titles
ArrowPromo
ArrowThere's even a pollen count!

Finally, there's this really great video showing how the programme, adverts and channel promotions all trigger each other to start automatically. You can also see the delay between Sat. 1 (Germany) analogue cable and digital cable and Kabel 1 (Austria) analogue and digital. I can't work out the other two screen. At a guess I'd say the middle left what is the finished piece that is then played out to all the services while the bottom right screen is... Swiss, perhaps?

Very good pres, like the way the time the show on is written.

Also like the sponsorship system, showing a full advert with a countdown.

Not quite, it looks like a monitoring screen for the channel, showing 3 inputs, the output of the TX suite and the off air returns from the 5 services that transmit it. 'signallaufzeiten senden and empfangen' is something like signal send and recieve times'. It isn't the sort of display that the transmission controller would rely on as they'll need to be able view and preview individual sources, it's more an engineering/monitoring screen

Also the various items won't trigger each other, they'll be started by the playout automation, which is working down a playlist

Top row is:
LIVE REGIE - 'Live production' (the source bringing in the current live programme),
PGM SRV - is a server playout, (here showing trails, presumably it plays programmes too), most likely 2 ports flip-flopping
WERBE SRV - 'promotional server' (playing the adverts) again this is most likely a couple of servers alternating

Middle row:
SAW PGM/OSL - no idea what it means but it's the output of the channel
KABEL analog - return feed from analogue cable - presumably Kabel Deutschland
KABEL digital - return feed from digital cable

Bottom Row
SAT analog - return feed from analogue satellite
SAT digtal - return feed from digital satellite
TERREST Digital - return feed from DTT

The delays are due to the time it takes to get there and back - DTT having the biggest delay, the 2 analogue services having the least

Oh, so they generally mean satellite and cable! It's not my fault Sat.1 and Kabel 1 have such similar names to the platforms!

Sat 1 and Kabel 1 are seperate TV stations in their own right, not platforms. Although there is a cable company called Kabel Deutschland

Googling the name of the programme 'Taff' it looks like the channel in that video is ProSieben

I know, I meant the platforms of satellite and cable! Laughing

Sat.1, Pro7 and Kabel 1 are all owned by (the appropriately named!) ProsiebenSat.1 Media so I guess I assumed from the captions above each box that the programme was a simucast on Sat.1 and Kabel 1 that just happened to have Pro7 promos. But that wouldn't make sense since there's an Austrian version of Sat.1. So I was all wrong! Very Happy

ZDF usually have a clock taking up the top left quarter of the screen for the last minute of the adverts before the News, I've seen the same done on RTL Klub in Hungary, so I guess it's common practice for many channels across the continent.

The EBU's ident which features before all EBU broadcasts (Eurovision etc) has changed. It's more shiney now! The music has been done by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and it premiered before the New Year's concert from Vienna. I think I prefered the previous working of Te Drum but the graphics are better than the old, powerpointy ones.

Quite nice. The BBC didn't used to show the EBU ident ahead of the New Year's Day Concert but did this year. In fact, the title sequence was an extended version of Te Deum ("the Eurovision fanfare") so maybe that's why they had it this year.

I imagine this is not least because they only show the second half of the concert on BBC Two; a clean version of the pictures with Radio Three's commentary. All a little half-hearted, but it's something that certainly used to happen with Classical and Arts programming a lot, less so now. Shame the BBC didn't open up the HD channel to take the HD feed. AIUI, ORF have produced the New Year's Day Concert in HD and DD5.1 for years.
