Actually, the former SVT1 and 2 logos as well as the starflower where designed in London by English&Pockett (who also designed the ITV hearts). The old Barnkanalen and SVT24 logos where designed by Kaktus Film, who also worked on the Sky Onc logo.

I don't know who designed the new logos, but it looks very much like something produced by SVT's in-house bureau (http://svt.se/grafisktcenter). Graphics produced by SVT tend look very cheerful, colourful and friendly, but not very slick or professional.

Yep - that fits.

The previous SVT logos had a very strong "brand" feeling - which is something that British agencies have historically been quite good at developing. This can mean that multiple channels are accused of being "samey" and that the brand is inflexible and stifles creativity. However it also sends a very strong message to viewers.

I see the Starflower - I think SVT. I don't need to see the letters "SVT"...

However maybe SVT feel that their core logo should be their station name - as the BBC have historically done (though their blocks are a neat way of doing this in an interesting way) ABC in the US have a similar clever and simple solution with their circle.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the svt replacements per se. They aren't exactly iconic designs (and is the 24 in the same typeface as previously used by News 24?)

Thanks for the link, I managed to work out how to get to the root of the archive. It's interesting that they have some very long (over half an hour) clips there in stream Windows Media format (therefore downloadable if you have the right software), something I couldn't imagine the BBC doing. I found what I think must be some news bloopers in there somewhere too.

I do like your site Andrew, the idents you have for Mega are fantastic. I like the Easter and Summer idents. Unfortunately they seem to have given up on special idents for christmas, easter and summer. This year they simply added text Happy Christmas and Happy Easter to the regular idents.

The ERT idents have grown on me. Again the new idents don't have variations for summer. I liked the NET goldfish summer idents but they have disappeared.

I am eager to see what the channels launch in September as they lauch their 2008/2009 branding.

They seem to be reporting on the break down which is shown the post above you, and wind up the news reader by cutting to the break down screen while the news reader thinks its a report Laughing

The news anchor introduces a story about the breakdown on SVT earlier in the evening, but the story fails to play and all that is shown is the breakdown sign, which gives a comical effect.

Just to clarify, "Tillfälligt avbrott" means "Temporary Interruption". Here's a cap of the breakdown sign in higher resolution:

In my opinion I prefer the old idents. That advert for the new ident in the background it says "Så Ska Det Låta" which is a Swedish celebrity karaoke show. Wish they had it here.
