I've wanted to follow a thread about international presentation, similar to the "News Presentation From Around the World" thread in the Newsroom. Sadly, I haven't found such a thread. So I though I had to start one myself.

I'm starting by posting some links to videos about the Greek broadcaster ERT wich recently relaunched all its television channels with new logos.

The main channel, ET1, had a theme based on emotion, just like ITV1. Unlike ITV1, these are much more fast-paced.
Arrow ET1 ident - Water Widescreen
Arrow ET1 ident - Colours
Arrow ET1 ident - Graphics
Arrow ET1 ident - Love
Arrow ET1 idents - Lights Widescreen

NET is an "information channel". Although "people idents" are universally hated in this forum, I find them quite nice, especially the musical theme. Very similar to the old BBC1 idents.
Arrow NET ident - Models
Arrow NET ident - Aerostata
Arrow NET ident - Dasos
Arrow NET ident - Xoros
Arrow NET ident - Paralia

ET3 has graphic idents. Kinda similar to ITV2 or ITV Day.
Arrow ET3 ident - Sea
Arrow ET3 ident - Modern
Arrow ET3 ident - Food
Arrow ET3 ident - Entertainment
Arrow ET3 ident - Ancient

Finally some common idents for news and sports:
Arrow ERT Eidhseis
Arrow ERT Athlitika

Red Bee Media is behind the rebrand and explain further in this press release.

Love this one, very nice Smile

The music on the NET ones are nice.
The flow of the logo on the ET3 ones are also nice.

I like the titles and the set, but the music sounds really dated, plus if you look closely the 1st TV behind the presenter has Sky News showing.

Anyway, a bit of Hungarian for you all...

Ajanlo usually means something to do with the ad breaks, the idents are usually shown at both ends of the commercial break.

Reminds of the Carlton hearts in a small way, the music as well to an extent.

Just got back from my annual trip back to Greece - family now out there and all that - and was very pleased to see the re-vamp and return to a standardised design across all the three national ERT channels.

Unfortunately - without a tv in the apartment and only catching glimpses in tavernas and bars, I only had one evening in Athens to get full sightings - so a big thank you to Thinker for posting the links to You Tube. ERT has put up wallpapers of ET1 and NET at http://tvradio.ert.gr/tv/wallpapers.asp

As for the news theme on NET, it is about twenty years old and was used on ET1, then on NET after ET2 was renamed, and is still there to this day. (See some old titles on the link below).

An old chestnut that some may remember me mentioning before is that Alter Channel in Greece has a theme that would be familiar to UK viewers - and I was chuffed to see/hear that it still has http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0KXetn1yhM

One of these days I might even get to updating my old site!

Did ERT switch to widescreen now?

On terrestrial broadcast, the majority of programming is 4:3 and I don't think that will change for quite a while yet.

Greece did experiment with PALPlus in the 90s, but out of the 20 or so channels on terrestrial (VHF as well as UHF is used with nearly every frequency taken, and most channels are on multiple frequencies), only Skai broadcast in multiple aspect ratios - mainly with the news in 16:9.

The commercial networks don't really have proper idents anymore, although they run promos and signposts. You can see some of that stuff on my YouTube acount..

An example of in-vision continuity from TV4 Sweden. Probably the best IVC studio among those who still do it:

on the greek package nova on which the greek channels broadcast, they don't have any 16:9 channels at all.
