Oh right. I wonder why they dont show the idents of the celebs leading into their programme then!
It was a nice idea on saturday nights to use the idents to trail the next shows. Such as Ant & Dec before you've been framed. Chris Tarrent into pop idol, and then simon cowell into millionaire, michelle collins (does she have an ident) into pop idol results, etc.

They still do - they were using Martin Kemp an hour before his drama thing on Monday.

I remember Channel 4 getting into trouble for showing an advert featuring Carol Vorderman during Countdown. Apparently it was a mistake on their part, but a costly one.
Presumably this rule doesn't extend to voiceovers though, as I remember during the last run of Pop Idol, ITV were showing a McDonalds ad with an Ant and Dec v/o. Anybody know why they can do this?

The basic question is "might this advert, in this position, cause confusion to the viewer as to what is programme material and what is commercial?". As long as the difference remains clear, it's mostly ok.
Normally, the channel's Traffic system should be set up to avoid clashes of content, but I did see C4 coming unstuck on the night that Big Brother couldn't go ahead (evacuation at Elstree). They'd slotted in an episode of Friends as a last minute filler. Then in the centre break, up popped the Coke advert, with 2 of the Friends cast, in a very Friends-like scenario. Definitely not a proper placing for this ad, but of course the Traffic system wasn't expecting Friends to be on in that slot.

How come they get away with on Creature Comforts? It's sponsored by PG Tips but the sponsor uses Ardman creations?

The sponsor's announcement is a different bucket of cod, Woody.
It has to be part of the programme, in a sense, so follows different rules.

But the sponsor's announcements have rules too. For example, the characters shown in the Cadbury sponsor messages before Coronation Street cannot be actual characters from the soap. Instead they use generic northern characters.
Whilst the PG characters wouldn't appear on Creature Comforts, they are very similar, and viewers could think that they are Creature Comfort characters.

I'm pretty sure Eileen from Corrie does the voiceover for the Corrie promotions. Also, I always think that the PG sponsor is part of Creature Comforts!

I thought it sounded like elieen too. The one who shouts at the kid to stop making a racket while she is eating her flake.
Victoria Wood does "The chocolate, the choice" bit at the end.
