Whatever ITV do I hope we dont get more "homegrown" soaps like Crossroads - what a flop that was.
So you'd rather scrap places like the Carlton Junior Workshop and so on and so forth and import absolutely everything we watch? Rolling Eyes You seem to be implying that everything that is homegrown in the last five years is crap.
Correct me if I'm wrong but all the workshop talent that appared in Crossroads - namely Nicola Russel (Julia Burchell), Des White (Marc Jordan), Minty Sutton (Peter Dalton) and Scott Booth (Keiran Hardcastle) - were removed in the 2003 relaunch of Crossroads - said revamp didn't last that long either , so I think Jez makes a good point.

Regarding the workshop thing and Crossroads: If you'd followed the arguments you'd know and understand the reasons for the Scott recast even if you didn't agree with it, plenty of people did not agree initially but they shifted. The other three mentioned did not return, true, but it is not true to say that "they were all written out of Crossroads at the end of Mark2" because they were not.

Now this is off-topic for this thread now, I think we should come back on topic now re: ITV1 Daytime scheduling. Thank you.

Take a look at this from digitalspy.co.uk http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds11814.html

It says that danniella westbrook is joining the loose women team (not that important, but...) Later This Year!

This has confused me. As Trisha is going to be going, This morning will be 2 hours, the news wont move, and des & mel will still be there.

So the only place I can think is that they are going to be putting them on in the 2pm slot. What a great line up. I like to watch loose women (dont know why), and its always been a great fill in when programmes like des & mel and this morning arent around. But to have this morning, nicholas owen and the news, des & mel AND Loose women is a cracking line!

Anyone know if there is any truth in this?

Eek! What's happening to Trisha? It has got me through many a flu and day's skiving of work. Are they going to replace it with another chat show? Is Trisha off to do something else?

Nicola was in a coma - we know she survived because Kate mentioned her. Minty had a court case due soon after the end of the show - he probably went to prison. Des left before the end didn't he? Scott was recast because Crossroads MK3 was set 18 months after MK2, but made only 6 months later.

She's off to the USA to do a show there.

Where are girls from Northern council esates going to go now to complain that despite being shagged by every bloke in a 2 mile radius, and being up the duff without knowing who the father is, that she still loves some gormless git called Brian?

As Trisha is filmed in bulk, Trisha is able to go to the USA without there being a break in the ITV1 series

Those canned episodes only last so long! And they only film it as much in advance as Coronation Street - about three weeks. You can tell because they ask for people to appear about a month in advance of the episode's broadcast.

Des did not leave before the end. Mark did as did Sarah-Jane but they were still in it in the last month (and I should know as I've just gone through all the episodes shown Aug 6-19th 2002 making a new gallery for my site with my new hardware).

This Minty court case is news to me, the only court case that would have happened that we knew about was for Jake and Tracey's divorce. And Phil's trial.

Scott thing is correct, although as we know the new character had stuff all to do with the original character both physically (actor-wise) and show-wise. Some people liked the new one (Hymagumba), other liked the old one (James Martin). Let's leave it at that.

Minty was speaking to Rocky about it in last MK2 episode. Something to do with Aston Villa gear? Des didn't appear in that episode, I think he left a couple of weeks earlier.

I think you probably just looked at episodes from 2-3 weeks before the end.

He might well have been, actually - I'll have to find my tape of the last episode and check it.

Wasn't Minty involved in that bootleg booze scam with that character that ended up in Corrie. Wasn't that the court case ?

Another arrogant Southern tosspot making assumptions that we all live on the breadline 'oop north.'
