Well I have extended CITV to 5.10pm so its more or less the same and you could have the same progs on it.

Neil id never even heard of that prog you mentioned, im sure my niece and nephew watch it though as they are 2 and 4 years old, obviously a simular mental age to yourself Very Happy But they watch all sorts of annoying kiddies shows when they come to visit which probabaly include that show you mentioned although ive not heard of it myself.

And yes CITV ending at 5.10pm may be going back to how it was in the 1990s but it was good cos you get the chance to show a soap (Shortland St please) for half an hour before everyone turns over for Neighbours at 5.37.

I think ITVs problems with the 5-6pm slot first began when they moved the news to 6.30pm and therefore had 1 hr to fill between CITV and the 6pm local news.

Does anyone know when the 24 hour quiz is coming to itv1, it's meant to be broadcast in both daytime and peaktime, and was wondening if anybody has any ideas when it will be broadcast and at what time? i think it should be in the 5-6pm slot

I think that was the idea to broadcast it in the 5-6pm slot, with it continuing on itv2, and most probably returning to itv1 in the evening.

Does anyone know what the concept of this is, or how it will work? How will they find the winner?

Will it be 24 hours of the same contestants taking part in different quiz shows, or a pub style/who wants to be a millionnaire question based quiz with the person that answers the most questions correctly within 24 hours winning?

Kiddies shows are not "annoying". Some of them are very good and very well produced. 'My Parents Are Aliens' for example is a very well written and funny comedy and has won an award or two for its content as well as being able to hold onto Alex Kew who's 16 and still sounds and looks 12.

Tiny Planets though is actually, in my opinion, cross-age. It's actually aimed at pre-schoolers although I think it's not age specific as it stands now. There's none of this "Bing has got the ball. Bing throws the ball to Bong. Bong is not paying attention and is hit on the head by the ball and he dies. Bye bye Bong" type dialogue. It's all just squeals from Bong and humming noises from Bing. It's quite appealing really with a nice little interlude and ditty.

Damn, did I just write all that on Tiny Planets? Embarassed

Isn't this exactly why ITV changed the schedule in the first place to try and stop you turning over to Neighbours just as their programme finished?

No, it was when they lost Home & Away in June 2000. Home & Away pulled in an average of 4.5m viewers in its slot before it disappeared and nothing else since has got anywhere near close (only noticeable exception was the first episode of Crossroads that at 5:05 had 3.17m viewers).

Well I suppose these kiddies shows are well produced but at the end of the day they are aimed at under 5's and im only ever forced to sit through them while baby sitting my sister's kids, but I cant complain too much as it keeps them from getting into mischief. They tend to like watching the tweenies which is really annoying IMO and its from the BBC too!

Yes I realised ITV fell into trouble with the 5pm slot when they lost home and away, therefore they should go back the the old way of doing it

5.10pm Overseas Soap (Shortland St or something simular)
5.40pm National News
6.00pm Local News
6.30pm Local Program

This worked for years and years in the 1990s - Central and Anglia used to have SS at 5.10pm and HTV had A Country Practice (showed SS at lunchtimes!)

JEZ - can the 5.10 slot be filled by a soap from ANY country or has it got to be from DOWN UNDER somewhere?

Tiny Planets seems to be all theme tune and hardly any actual programme to me.

After recently looking out for the CITV new look, I agree that some kids stuff can be fairly satisfactory viewing, some of the sitcoms are as good as stuff you get in prime time, in fact My Parents are Aliens is probably funnier than some stuff in prime time!. A new sitcom starring him out of the Fast Show started last week on CITV

OWAN - it could be from any country as long as it is cheap to buy and brings in a large audience - however I personally would say Shortland Street as it is one of my fave shows. If not that maybe they could show Sunset Beach afterall ITV2 once showed it.

Whatever ITV do I hope we dont get more "homegrown" soaps like Crossroads - what a flop that was.

Got some good looking stuff at the moment on the CiTV strand. That Pirate's proggie on Tuesday, the other programme on the Thursday with the kid out of the About A Boy movie, My Parents Are Aliens and other stuff.

It's not a bad mix at all I have to say as it stands now, CBBC seems high on imports and cartoons at the moment. I'd say that if you don't watch any other CiTV, grab Tiny Planets and My Parents Are Aliens.

So you'd rather scrap places like the Carlton Junior Workshop and so on and so forth and import absolutely everything we watch? Rolling Eyes You seem to be implying that everything that is homegrown in the last five years is crap.

I never said all homegrown programs are crap - no way. Infact my fave show is Corrie!

I just think all the homegrown shows from the 5-6 slot are crap

Correct me if I'm wrong but all the workshop talent that appared in Crossroads - namely Nicola Russel (Julia Burchell), Des White (Marc Jordan), Minty Sutton (Peter Dalton) and Scott Booth (Keiran Hardcastle) - were removed in the 2003 relaunch of Crossroads - said revamp didn't last that long either , so I think Jez makes a good point.

Yes they were all written out of Crossroads at the end of Mark2, infact we never really found out what happened to Des, Minty, Nicola, Phil (is he still in prison, Yvonne said she didnt care either way). The only one of the youngsters to make it into Mark 3 was Beena and even she was written out before the end of the series I think.
