for those of us who have had to endure the torture of masterbagging, non-sealed DVDs are fab
Which is everyone now, its a "company thing" now.
We've managed to avoid it. We only do the Boxsets and Chart stuff. Everything else is red-tagged or keepered still. Got your JML stuff up yet? How about the Gift Card Shop? What a load of crud, eh!
Anyhoo, I'm getting the Strike it Lucky one I think since it's been getting the best reviews.
Who actually owned the rights to that because it changed to Strike it Rich after the Thames franchise was lost .....
Thames, sorry Fremantle Media own the rights to Strike It Lucky, as they do with the vast majority of gameshows. It was just that Thames still owned the format, but Strike It Rich was produced by LWT, if a repeat is in circulation, they state that it's a Reg Grundy or Fremantle Production for LWT, though if anyone wishes to correct the last line feel free.
It seems a bit strange that considering the effort made to push widescreen, all DVD Games seem to be set up in 4:3.
Not sure if on widescreen these appear full frame or with bars down the side - probably down to individual settings.
It's also the case with interactive content too. The Freeview Newsround quiz began with the picture in 4:3 and the overlay graphic fitting perfectly over it - on a 4:3 TV anyhow!
They must have realised this was a problem because they then stretched the picture so the graphics line up on widescreen - but then no longer do on 4:3. They've now gone back to the original.
Anyhow, the Strike it Lucky in gameplay terms is the best of the ones we've got - the opposite problem to many in fact as in it's too quick and you find yourself accidently answering questions before you've read them!
I had the Corrie and Family Fortunes one for Christmas, ive posted my comments on the Corrie one in the thread but basically its well worth a play if you are a big fan like myself.

Yes, Strike it Lucky and You Say We Pay are the pick of the bunch this year, I think.
Virgin have reduced the prices of nearly all of them.
4.99 to 7.99 each.
7.99 to 4.99?
What a Christmas Con!
I have to say, I'm disappointed by the Deal or No Deal one - its awkward because people get impatient waiting to choose boxes etc - we gave up in the end.
Played Bullseye and Trivial Pursuit tonight. Bullseye isn't that bad but gets rapidly boring, its only Jim Bowen that tries to keep it alive. Even though he's now taking the piss out of himself! Trivial Pursuit seems the best of the bunch for us but some questions repeated themselves which was annoying.
We bought two to play over Christmas: Strike It Lucky and Family Fortunes. I can confirm that SIL is by far the best. It is true to the game, the questions can be quite challenging and Barrymore is on top form. It's just like the original game was back in the 1990s.
Family Fortunes, however, was a disappointment. As has been said, you had to play much of it on paper and it went too fast for us to keep up. With all the flashy graphics, music etc., it had your head spinning. We gave it up after 10 minutes and played SIL for the rest of the night!
I'm going to sell FF and buy something else. Can anyone recommend another DVD game which is on the same level as SIL?
Question of Sport is very good actually - lots of clips, quick to play and pretty much follows the usual format.
Strangely though the final round sees Sue say something like "We end as we always do by returning to the picture board" - something they haven't done in the show for years.
Blockbusters is quite strange - you don't choose a letter and then they put up the question and rather than multiple choice you have the option to reveal the answer and then have to input whether you were right or wrong?
Haven't got one wrong yet!
On the plus side though every question is read out, supposedly by Bob Holness but it sounds nothing like him!
