Inside Soap Awards

Did anyone see the Inside Soap Awards, on Wed 01 Oct, on Living TV?

What an embarrasment. The idea with these awards was that the winners already knew they had won prior to the bash, and were just coming for a party. This means that there was no glittering ceremony, just a few interviews on armchairs ala local news style, how cheap.

The music was tacky too, and played far too many times, they should have stuck to reporting it in the magazine, the meanies.

The reason for this was cos the mag was out in the shops yesterday morning and they would never have got it to press in time if the winners werent revealved and piccies taken on Monday night, - I agree it is a joke, hardly anyone takes notice of these awards anyway, they arnt like the proper British Soap Awards or NTA Awards and the mag is so Eastenders biased just cos the editor is a big EE fan

I think Corrie will win Best Soap at the NTA as they are far less biased towards EE.

And far more biased towards Corrie!

No Whataday the NTA are not biased towards Corrie as both EE and Corrie have won best soap in the past. And they dont have a magazine that puts Eastenders people on it like Inside Soap do.

If it wasnt for my subscription I wouldnt get Inside Soap anyway, its terrible now its gone weekly.

Yes it has gone down hill since the weekly launch. As Jez has mentioned in other threads, I have to agree the listings are terribly laid out, and also there is some terrible padding in the magazine with a whole page dedicated to the opinions of two people from the magazine on what they think is great and what isn't at the minute, a more thought out 'see it from both sides' approach may have worked better, rather than just cuss something without a reason, (hmmmm perhaps it could be a few people from tv forum.....)

It used to be better when it arrived every other Saturday morning, as it was something to look forward to, but now it clashes with Radio Times day, it is a bit too much all in one day. I am pleased they have put the cast lists back on Inside Soap, but they could try harder, and Jez, you could always cancel your subscription and obtain a refund if you've really had enough. Though if we all did it may make next years awards even cheaper, if that is possible, perhaps they'll send the winners the awards in the post?

Yeah I did consider cancelling my subscription but with only about 5 weeks to go its hardly worth it now - and they are giving me 4 additional issues free after my subscription ends so i might as well have these.

Once my subscription ended around December time I will re-assess the situation and then decide if I want to carry on buying it - I may decide to only by certain issues i.e ones with Corrie on it.

I agree - everything was fine a few months ago when we got it every other Saturday and yes on a Tuesday im in work so dont have any time to read it and I also dont like the fact it clashes with TV Quick/TV Choice.

Oh and yes that "soap and lather" page is total crap. Why do we want to know the opinions of 2 people who work at Inside-Soap? Other pages which are a complete waste of time include the style pages (a whole double page!) The Kiss and Telly page and the Photocall pages. Why the cant just fill it up with articles about soaps instead of crap I dont know.

It’s only full of crap because its out weekly. If you take out the crap, you have not much of a magazine left, and it would be impossible to sell it for £1.

Give it a year, and it’ll be back to Fortnightly!
