ITV was to return to the 1989 Generic system of doing things, ITV would still have a presence with the regional company's name taking priority. If I was Michael Grade this is what I would do:
1.Restore all the ITV regional companies except Carlton, rename Granada as ' North West Television ' . Start negotiating with the RTL Group to acquire the rights to the Thames brand and back catalogue of programmes, revamp the old Thames continuity intro and during the week branded the channel "ITV1 - Thames" and at the weekend LWT.
3. Takeover SMG and reinstate regional identities ( Scottish and Grampian )

Sorry you're living in Fantasyland. Regional continuity is gone and it would be too expenisve to start up again. The best we can hope for is text underneath the logo and ITV even begrudge us that now.

I too wish regional names were brought back but on Grade's list of priorties reintroducing regional names won't be one of them; sorting out ITV's programmes will be at the top of the list, and remember more people won't watch the same cr@p just because a LWT logo preceeds it.

but LWT never produced CRAP Wink

but your right, it would nice to have

ITV1
Central

or

ITV1
Tyne Tess

but I also think that some of the programmes are not the problem, there just can;t pull a programme of the air after the first Episode it NOT right , and Mr grade agrees with this point,

I also think there should leave programmes WILL alone in there original Time slot for there Full run of there series

Huddy Refreshed: You say The Bill is "too soapy for my liking"-- in what way do you mean that?

You also suggest resting Heartbeat . Well it is still very popular, and AFAIK it can get similar ratings to Emmerdale -- and it sells well abroad I believe.

I think it is the best of the Sunday 20:00 dramas, and it has a brilliant cast and is something the whole family can enjoy-- undemanding and nostalgic viewing! So I can't see it being scrapped anytime soon (sorry!)

Funny how many ITV regions managed to sustain it for so long though, with TSW even making IVC a specific commitment in its franchise application. This in an era where ITV companies were self-owned concerns.
